Maybe some real RP, with respect for those who want to carry it to the extreme (not necessarily me)?

I would really enjoy something like the attitude and atmosphere was on EQ's Firiona Vie server back when it first started?

Especially today, I imagine. There's a subset of players who enjoys griefing any playstyle that isn't their own (and that one too most times), most notably roleplayers. You might find opening day plagued with juvenile attempts to ruin your fun.

Not to be a Cassandra, however, and it will die down in due course (at least, it usually does). Just hang in there.

(I'm not playing on the RP server despite a long, looong RP background because I just can't get into it in MMOs. Don't ask - something to do with having my stuff imagined for me, I think. Still, I wish all you Florendylites much luck and tons of fun! )

Lol, no, I'm pretty realistic. Even in it's heyday, the EQ1 FV server had its share, and it eventually the atmosphere was destroyed, but that was as much the fault of PP farming and selling (FV had very few no-drop items, as part of its ruleset).

Nevertheless, one must have goals, and while the ooc system, at least as it was in beta, needs work, /ignore, hopefully, will hold a fair size number of folks who don't see it my way.

I know on FV, when one person complained, the offender usually stood up to them, when a dozen flew up in the first few seconds, it generally had the desired effect.

Not much was kickin' at midnight tonight on Florendyl So far I saw a question and answer with real sentence form of capitalized first word and punctuation! I was excited.

There was a guy who mentioned WoW last night. I told him to be quiet so he doesn't wake up the sleeping giants. Then he said he wanted to wake them up. So I told him we need to avoid that until we became stronger and wiser, the latter being the more important issue. Then I gave up on him. Hrr hrrr, I can RP!

Lol, I am trying. Most /ooc questions can be posed in acceptable form if someone gives a bit of thought. Those that can't can be ((xx)).

What a lot of people don't realize, is many of us thinK of EQ1 RP. There WAS NO OOC channel. It was removed from the server. Anyone who thought their non-relevent banter was worth of red splashed across every screen in the zone quickly found out it wasn't so.

Nevertheless. There is a group of us making an attempt. And a group of 'them' making an obvious counter attempt, and another group that is just new to the concept.

Oh well, I am not going much past ((Rp Please?)) Were I happier with VG in general, I might make a bigger effort. Its one of those things that if you try too hard, you just make it worse. If the community wants it, they'll have to do it themselves I am thinking. It can work if there is a majority. We'll see.

EDIT: I have resorted to turning off shout about 70% of the time. As several people above mentioned, there are some people who just don't understand why the rest of us don't want to read their every thought.

I dont mind ooc chat, but NOT in shout! Christ that is annoying, and its mostly stupid, immature s***.

Maybe I havent figured it out, but I cant seem to change colors of the various chats (shout, regional, auction etc)

Is that option even in the game yet?>

The color red is LIKE CAPS LOCK to my eyes, unless it is an important announcement or cry for help or the like.

You can change the colors. Right-click the chat tab, and there should be a Chat Options window with color settings for every single aspect of chat text.

I've seen it and tried messing with it, but so far haven't been able to change anything.

Guess I just need to figure it out
