Forum and site running slow?

Maybe it's just me but the forums and website here are running really slow. It was fine a few days ago, but yesterday and today it's become really slow to use. Scrolling up and down pages for me seems to have a load of lag.

Re: Forum and site running slow?

What browser and version are you using? About a year or so ago we had a problem like that which was a result of poor skinning. It was especially apparent in Firefox. The new skin you see here fixed that. Also what time do you visit the site? I notice you are in England so its possible you are on the site when backups are running late on night here in the US.

Re: Forum and site running slow?

I'm using he latest version of Firefox.

I'll check and see how it is with IE, but for some reason I can't upgrade that to version 7 on my office PC.

I've been on and of most of the day today with the same results.(Between 0900 - now (1515) GMT)

Weird, I know for me i couldn't load the website for about 15 minutes. It never seemed slow at all though.

Do you have admin rights to that PC? If not, you won't be able to do that. IE7 also requires Windows XP. IE6 should work just fine anyway.

Yep, I have full admin rights and Windows XP. I'll grab one of our IT guys and get him to install it for me.

It still runs sluggish with IE6.

If both are slow its likely to be a network issue. If thats the case can you open up a cmd prompt (start --> run --> cmd --> click ok) and type tracert www.vanguardspheres.com and post it or PM it to me? Its possible we've got some slowness between us.

The CPU on the server VS runs on is just barely puttering along so I dont think thats causing any issue and we're on a huge pipe so bandwidth is unlikely to be an issue. We'll figure it out though. Just will take some a little work.
