New style by Lycrist

Some of you may have noticed a "couple" of changes to the sites look this morning. The changes you see here now are considered phase 1 of our style upgrade. Phase 2 will consist of reworking the sites icons to fit with our new theme a little better. This amazing transformation can entirely be attributed to the tireless and extremely skilled work done by our very own staff member and graphic artist Lycrist over the last week.

Since our launch, I have always felt our site needed a more polished look but at the same time I wanted to keep the scroll theme intact. Lycrist has succeeded in meeting both of these goals as well as making the site load faster at the same time. Truly a win win situation all around! Furthermore Lycrist was also able to create a new logo for the site working from concept art by Cobalt Katze. The wax seal graphic above is the result of that collaboration. Each of the three intersecting circles in the center of the seal represents one of the three major spheres of Vanguard. (Adventuring, Crafting, Diplomacy). The ring encompassing those spheres represents Vanguard:Saga of Heros as a whole and the very outter ring represents this site which seeks to cover everything Vanguard related.

I'm extrememly happy with the look and feel, but...shhh...don't give away everything! We can have our own sekrit sauce, too!

It's looks pretty good but it seems to be kind of choppy when scrolling now. Maybe it's just my compute but I didn't have this problem before.

I'm not having that issue any more on my main, but both versions are choppy on my laptop.

Looks beautiful - it seems to define the look and feeling of the Spheres. Way to go, Vanguard Spheres, and kudos to Lycrist.

I'll look into the choppiness; although I don't get it on my home PC, so it might take a while to figure out what works.

The choppiness is somehow being caused by the stylesheet, Lyr. Not the images themselves.

I disagree. I'd be more likely to point at the Javascript on the site. The stylesheet is extremely simple and furthermore almost entirely stock vBulletin. So unless people lag on all vBulletin sites, which they dont, then it cant really be the CSS. The one piece of nonstandard CSS we have is the piece that loads the center scroll image. However whats most frustrating is that of my 6 PC's none of them experience the choppiness unless they are running an old version of Firefox.
