My Beta Media Page - Screenshots & Videos(eventually)

Hi all, new to the boards here.

With the official forums coming down I thought I would pack up and move out to the fansites. I brought my media site with me so I thought I would post it up for everyone to see.

Right now all that I have up are some screenshots, but I will eventually(hopefully in the next few days) be posting up some gameplay video as well, if I can figure out how to make it work.

I will continue to post updates to my site here on the forums.

Welcome Kylehug. Just be careful if you post media on your site. The traffic you get off the fansites can really pile up fast if its a good clip. Would hate to see your site get forced down by your provider for going over a bandwidth limit.

With that in mind, I will probably post a fairly small low-med quality FLV or something on my site and have a link to download/view a higher quality version from an outside host.

That way people can quickly view the lower quality one and if they like it download the higher quality one from the outside source, provided I can find a host.

I got my first video up and working too! It's shows off a little combat from several classes/races.

It requires flash to view and there are 2 different quality versions (low/high) but both are at a 640x400 resolution.

I'll watch my traffic over the next few days to see if I will need to find another host for future videos, but I think I'll do ok. I was able to keep the file size fairly small (around 19mb) for the High quality while maintaining fairly good image quality. Give me some feedback for the high quality version if you think it's too distorted and I will try to make future videos better.

Next, I'm going to try to one of the diplomacy system, but I'll take requests too. if anyone has some ideas that I can do. I am only about level 10 now with my highest character so high level zones, player housing and flying mounts are probably out of the question.

Looked good Kylehug. I just watched the High Quality and it seemed to work fine with only a little jerkiness and streaming pauses. Do you have a link to the player software you use there? Might be a good replacement for our existing software which is no longer supported when it breaks finally.

The player is actually one of the included players that come with Adobe/Macromedia Dreamweaver 8. It's very quick and easy to implement because it is just an option you select from a drop down menu when you import an FLV movie, and Dreamweaver does the rest. There are several players to choose from as well, some that include progress bars and volume sliders.

Very nice/interesting site you got going there. I really can't wait till I can upgrade my system @ the end of the month hopefully and see the world the way you do now.
