I percieve the DK to have a hood/cloak combo, Weapon - I love long swords (black blade with a dark blue glow?), a shield for when the DK gets in to deep - huge shield, blue of darkest night for armor color :P

Perhaps even casting a buff spell on his sword hence the dark blue glow?

I see Dread Knight like a Shadowknight.

Mace (Flail, MorningStar) in one hand, kite shield in the other. Dark colors (blood red, indigo, violet) and black combination of armor dyes. i.e. black shield/red adornment. I also think of spiked epaulets (shoulders) and, well...just spikes all down the armor. The armor, of course, black, and a black, fully-enclosed helm. Definitely some horns or something on that. I can definitely see the stark scarlet cape, or possibly violet(My personal fav) or midnight blue, one of the colors on the darker end of the color spectrum.

They operate on others' fear, and probably have some vampiric abilities (maybe weapon augments) Draining abilities and the like (To a lesser extent than a necromancer) But I don't see shadowknights with pets? I think the summons should be limited to necromancers.

Think of Sauron in LoTR, that was a pretty graphically enhanced example.

You know, Shadowknights could have a sword too...can't just limit them to all spikes :wink: . Maybe even a two-handed weapon for diversity (If someone else is tanking)

Posted from my thread below concerning the look of a DK.

Since my perception of the Dread Knights appearance was requested, here you go.

I see the Dread Knight in a suit of black armor. Not your standard black, but mirrored so it almost looks like Obsidian. The armor itself almost draws you into it, making the adversary want to come closer to the Dread Knight than they know they should. Over his armor he wears a sleaveless hooded robe that fastens once over his/her chestplate. The robe, or long tunic if you will, will be simple in nature generally black with symbols of their god or patron fashioned at the front just below the collar bone on each side. The Dread Knights blade is stained red with the blood of those who stood against them. Around the blade swirls a black flame outlined is a soft blue.

Those who look upon the Dread Knight will know fear unlike anything they could have ever imagined.

That is my impression of the Dread Knight. Fear and Death are his domains, and anyone foolish enough to stand before him will shortly find themselves at their gates.

I agree Kalas no pets! gah! they were so weak in EQ that it was not worth keeping them casted. A Dread Knights pet should be his Weapons, embued with whatever dark necromantic magic is available to him.

No EQ style pets at all in Vanguard I believe.

Necromancers have 'constructs'...which sounds pretty schweet.

Actually...most, if not all, classes will have access to some form of pet in a small way. And then the Necromancer will have a huge pet that kicks all kinds of ass.
