How exactly is it that Word of Doom can MISS!?!?

So I'm dungeon crawling with friends last night, we're in a tight spot so I pop Word of Doom... and nothing happens. No resist message, nothing. So I scroll back through my combat log and it says that my Word of Doom has MISSED!!!

I know I had this happen when I was a noob but I thought it had been fixed.


I think it might have had something to do with me being on a slightly different vertical axis than the mob, I'm not sure though.

Anyway, I hope this gets fixed because it's definitely not cool.

while I do agree it sounds stupid, It does happen to all spells, so it is hard to just single out a spell.

WoD is no exception.

I can only guess that there are several types of 'resist' (resistance, dex, player accuracy, skills, etc.) and One of them is flagged as a miss, and doesn't show the resist message.

Perhaps if the mob is deaf or wearing ear muffs they can't hear the "word"?

i do not remember to had any WoD resisted from the patch it was chenged, maybe they made WoD "melee based" instead of spell base for eh "hit check" to reduce the resist chance of various mobs.

if this is the case then i think is a welcome change and i'm way more happy to get a miss every 100 wod than a resist every 3 :P

Word of Doom is still a spiritually based spell and can be resisted in part or in full. I use it quite a lot and have had it flat out resisted many times as well as tons of partial resists.

The 'missing' thing is an old bug that's been around for a long time, but I thought it had been fixed.
