DC questions, looking for advice!

I am currently a level 33 Orc DK and I have some questions about DC. My main concern is that it seems to take forever to get to DC4 (I dont have DC5 yet at my level). I am looking for opinions on how much I should concentrate of getting to DC4 at the beginning of fights solo and grouping. As in is it worth sacrificing damage to get there ASAP or should I just raise DC as I go through the fight.

Generally when soloing I just ignore it and get DC as I spam my attacks. However I am starting to wonder if I would be better served concentrating on getting DC up faster. I know that I get Symbol of Wrath next level and I am wondering if I should start using that instead of Despair when soloing.

In groups on trash mobs I am not concerned about DC. However I do think that I need to work on getting DC4 as fast as possible on named/boss mobs. My main concern is that I might loose aggro if I go straight to spamming Dreadful Visage after 1-2 hits. Generally what I have been doing lately is hit Torture on incoming then Vexing Strike and start alternating between that and DV.

I also dont understand the difference in ranks of Dreadful Visage. I have rank2 atm, but it doesnt seem to do much more than rank1.

Another thing I have been wondering about is if we get hate from our Devour spells.

SO, if anyone would be so kind as to respond with what works for them or possibly what order of spells/attacks they do to start fights I would really appreciate it!.

You probably want to concentrate on keeping aggro and surviving the fight, with your HP drain abilities if necessary.

After that, then sure, get DC up. But as far as I know it doesn't give you more hate, and before DC5 it doesn't seem to help surviving much.

I increase DC with my aggro spells and chains anyway, so I wouldn't concentrate on it unless you have free time to click Dreadful Visage.
