1817 patch hate based on str instead of int
http://www.vanguardspheres.com/forum...notes-4-a.html
- Protective and Offensive Fighters – Many abilities and melee attacks that add or remove hate are now based on strength instead of intelligence. according to the link above the new patch will have hate based on str instead of int. what about torture's and provoke's hate element? since they are counted as spells will both their hate elements be based on str now or int? could we have a detailed list as to which of our dk abilities with hate is now based on str or int? the patch note failed to state if it was all abilities with hate and instead mentions many abilities and melee attacks. please clarify, thanks. |

My int is over 200 unbuffed and I still don't see my targets target 50% of the time. With this change I'll switch over to more str and probably never be able to see my targets target. I was alright with sacrificing some dps for targets target because I felt that the added hate from int maybe made up for the lower dps.
The targets target function of the game is nice and sometimes necessary especially for protective fighters and the use of rescues. If they're going to make this change can they adjust how much int is needed to actually see your targets target? Maybe make it work 100% of the time at 200 int.. 50% of the time at 100 int.. etc. |

they are taking the game in a direction I no longer feel will be fun for me. I am sticking around to see how things pan out, but I haven't had an urge to log on for a good week already, ever since I saw these patch notes, they compounded my distress over state of the game.
Sigil shouldn't have any feet to move anywhere by now, they shot themselves in a foot so often last 3 month. But yet they still run in the direction that is less and less in line with what they promised few years back. I think they are raising the stakes and attempting to shoot themselves in the knee now. |

Given that no matter what race you choose for your dreadknight nor how you choose to invest your stat points Str will end up your highest and most valuable stat, why are people crying about this?
It doesn't lessen the fact that having a high intelligence maximizes spell damage (they do need to fix the target id issue though). How about waiting until these changes go live before freaking out? If they do suck I'll be bitching right alongside you all  |

The reason most people are complaining, though, is because str was already the best stat by far - with the highest damage and defense (messing up the people who rolled dex for defense at release), and int only gave some spell damage (what, 600-1k damage on WoD / Bane, 200 damage over 24 on torture?), target, and some hate. Now, there is no reason to have any stat but str on your armor... making all three of those faction armors quite outdated with their dex / con. so what about all the people who rolled Dark Elf? the people who put lots of points in int instead of dex or con? just stfu and take it? I think at the very least sigil should give out another set of refund points to people. My stats will stay the way they are - Max str, int/dex, but some people feel that it is unfair for them to do major changes like this without allowing people to change their characters. I believe the draw of this game for many people was to be able to design a character that will preform well, with their own little twists: one that is physically weaker but can fight for longer, high damage, high hp / def, etc. People are simply mad that Sigil is taking away that 'choice' and replacing it with strength. I could really care less because str was already the best stat, but you should always think about it in a way other then how it affects yourself, and the fact is, quite a few people are turned off by there being a superior stat. p.s why does all the tank armor from those 3 factions have so much dex ? |

I'll explain DrK.
Everyone maxes STR if they know whats what. Everyone. So lets look across the board at all the races. Significant disparity between a dark elf and a lesser giant right? Dark elf could still compete because hate was based on INT. So that lesser giant gets free STR points and can cap it higher than a dark elf. That dark elf gets free INT and can cap it higher than the lesser giant. However, both of these 2 races MAX their STR. Neither will max their INT. The Dark Elf will probably have a higher INT though because of the points that are added automatically. So now comparatively the lesser giant has higher HP pool, higher dmg, higher block and the dark elf has a bit higher hate. At LEAST choosing dark elf didn't make you a fool completely. With this change you will be a fool NOT to max your STR, and I suspect some out there still have not. What happens now is: the natural high STR races will have more HP, more hate (significant), more block and no drawbacks to picking that race. Dark elves now have subpar STR, subpar CON and less block/mit. Across the board they have just rewarded everyone who rolled the cookie cutter races. They are now the supreme races by far and everyone who rolled something else is simply subpar. Grats me on Dex (useless vs the other stats) and int! Just keep laying down for these kinds of changes, and soon itll be EQ1 again. |
