Well Keris I could read the bug thread but due to the fact I have read other threads where DK say they have no problems whatsoever holding agro I was beginning to wonder If it was me doing something wrong. Hopefully they get this crap fixed so the DK actully has some worth in a group. Right now we seem worthless from the "agro generating tank"standpoint.

Like I said in your other thread, and in other threads throughout this board. I have never had trouble keeping aggro in a group, unless someone hits some obscene critical.
Then and only then I might lose the mob for 3-4 swings. Between our rescues, Torture, taunt, chains, and Seething Hatred you have ample abilities to keep aggro in any situation. Hotkey taunt on your main attack key, and make sure you chain Incite->Inflame before you go into any Wrack->Ruin or Shield of Fear->Dark Bastion chain lines. Will it get better when our forms are fixed? Maybe. I doubt I will change too much. NOTE: I always use a 2h weapon tanking. The DPS from 2h weapons is much higher than 1h + shield, which translates into more aggro.

Well Keris after some ajustments Im holding agro just fine.The ajustments were to the people I group with and not so much to my play style since it was very similar to what you and others are doing. I was in a situation where (as I mentioned) I was in a group with people a few levels higher than me that were used to grouping with a tank (warrior) who was a few levels higher than them.
Before adventuring last night I told them to let me generate my agro which meant I pulled with torture/devour strength and then dumped a provoke and then let them engage then I would Ravageing Darkness and I never lost agro once. The only issue I had was it took a few more hits than I would have liked to grab agro from the Psionocists mezzed mobs my god do they generate some hate. It was never enough to get the Psi killed but it was a bit harder than Expected. I began Saving the rescues for the mezzed mobs and that worked quite well. |

This spell is rediculously nice. If you could convince a psion to stop nuking and pass this around a little to the people you don't want grabbing aggro you would have zero problems. I wonder if it's targettable out of group.....that would be an annoying griefing spell to have a psion lowering aggro on the tank of another group. Also, the problem with the paladin spell smite and their DOT which I don't recall the name of; it doesn't appear that it's necessarily lowering aggro rather than increasing it. What it looks like is that those two spells are not placing the mob fully in combat properly. Harder to see on the aggressive mobs, but if you cast smite on a yellow non aggressive mob it won't turn red. It charges you yellow, then goes red when it gets to you or at least after a few seconds after it was initially tagged. If I cast torture or any other spell on a mob like that the mob's aggression circle and name turns red right away. |
