Best Race? Please Help!

I want to start off by saying that I am sooooo glad I found this site! I bought Vanguard about 2 days after it came out and so far I must say I love this game (aside from all the bugs, etc. we would need to raise this sites bandwith to accomodate that discussion). I have tried a Warrior (I typically play a tank type char in MMO's), a Ranger (I love slinging arrows), a Blood Mage (I liked the dea of a DPS'ing healer) and a Dread Knight.

So far, I definitely like the utility and playability of the Dread Knight (although admittedly my highest char so far is only 8), but after doing a bit of after the fact research, I am hoping that I didn't make a mistake in choosing my class; I chose a Kurasasha (sp?).

What does this community think about that choice? I have read I should have made an Orc, Giant, or Human. Any opinions?

Honestly it's not as big of a deal as a lot of people make it out to be. If I am not mistaken, stats are based off of the class. So no matter what race you pick, starting stats will be the same. Where your differences come into play is what gets auto-distributed stat-wise at level 10, and the racial ability that your race choice will have.

Stats in this game seem to give only minimal gains per point invested. So it's not too huge of a deal. The nice thing is, Dread Knights can make use of pretty much all of the stat pools, since we are a 'hybrid' class. We can cast some spells, and we tank.

Kurashasa gets +2 con and +2 int every level , plus 10 points to put where you please (keep in mind, all that starts at level 10). Con will help your resists and hitpoints, INT will improve your spell damage, enemy detection and the ability to see what your enemies are doing in combat (i.e who they're targetting...more helpful than you might think actually ), let alone decrease the chance an enemy will counter your spells (not seen any do it, but hey). One of my personal favorite stats to buff up is DEX...it seems to give the most benefits for the cost IMO. As for Kurashasa's racial ability, it's actually a nice one to have for a tank. Increased mitigation, and slows the mobs hitting you. A+ in my book.

So basically, I would say be whatever race you wish...Kurashasa is fine.

Oh, and welcome to the boards.

What's up Dahmir, this is Hui Shi .

I initially went with Orc for dreadknight and after reaching level seven decided to roll with a Kojan human for one reason "Spirit of Jin".

This little babay can help ease your fears of running out of mana and health by giving you a nice boost "can we say 45% ladies and gentleman", so far I have noticed I have lasted a lot longer using it than other DKs in a group (still testing it though).

I have been pumping all my points into Str-Dex with the other points shared between vit and Int, wanna be more of a nuke melee fighter.

Experiment a bit and do some reading on the boards after all you are in the right place  .
