The only race I think that is being somewhat gimped by these are WE...and some WE love their speed ability. so they don't get to use it in tanking or damage roles...they still absolutely love it.
So in my opinion...play what you like, and adapt to YOUR racial ability, not the other way around. If something is OBVIOUSLY unbalanced, doesn't it make sense to you that it would be balanced? Personally, the LG ability is not as good as people think it is. It's awesome, but it's not game-breaking. I'm more worried about the Desert Skin barbarian racial...that one is by far the most powerful tanking racial. And they can't be DK - so I don't care as much as I might. *shrug* -Cev

As for playing what you like and adapting to your racial instead of vice versa... Is it just me, or should a statement like that never need to be stated? I agree, it would be nice to not even consider them as a factor, but you have to admit that they are huge advantages to certain roles and disadvantages to others. Just like the Wood Elf ability you mentioned. Sure there are people that don't mind, and maybe even like it. But in all fairness there ARE abilities currently available that make them less desirable as a tank, or as a healer, or as a DPSer when compared to what they COULD be. That is the whole point of my argument. It isn't that people can't and won't make a Wood Elf Warrior... my point is that IF a person WANTS to make one, they should never even have a second thought about doing so because they could end up less desirable based solely on their race. I fail to understand why we keep seeing this debate. Any one that thinks these racials will not influence people, both in character creation and guild/team selection is seriously deluded. They are profound enough to be an issue. I fail to see why any one would deny it. It really is beyond me how we can still be having this debate. Let us pretend for a moment that you can pick ANY race and it doesn't matter from the beginning which one you take. Now let us also pretend that at level 10 you get a choice between the following abilities for your character, regardless of race. 1 - 25% mitigation bonus for 20 seconds 2 - 50% HP increase for 30 seconds 3 - 50% faster run speed for 30 seconds Now, if race was NOT the factor here, and you had to choose one of those abilities, as a tank which one would you take? If you can honestly say to me that it doesn't matter, then I suppose you are right, race has no impact on the game as it stands. If you feel compelled to take options 1 or 2, then I feel my argument is justified. Honestly, the only difference between the scenario I listed above, and the current game mechanic is the level at which you make your choice AND the current mechanic locks into one specific race as an added bonus. NOTE: The latter half of this post is not specifically directed at you, Eclipse. It is more a blanket statement that was brought on by my response to you. I have been engaged with dozens of other people on other forums and this one alike over this issue. I just fail to see how so many people don't consider this to be FUBAR.
