Q&A w/ The Dread Knight Class Lead
Just as the title states. If you have a question that you want answered post it here and I will try my best to answer it on the spot or get you an answer.
Try to keep this thread clean if you want to discuss something in greater detail than what answer or clerification was given start a new thread and post the link and I will make my way over to join the frey. But this thread will remain clean unobstructed of spammers, flammers, whiners, etc. This thread has a purpose of getting peoples questions answered in a reasonable amount of time. I do not need to sort thru 20 pages of debate. Hope this works out. V/r

Re: Q&A w/ The Dread Knight Class Lead
OK, I'll bite ...
I've just started playing a Dread Knight (been hammering away at all the classes since Beta 3 started), and so far, I'm really liking it. But I'm only level 12, and have a few questions on how things work: 1. Lifetaps - I know I have an attack now (can't recall the name) that requires being behind the mob to work. I know we get cull later on - is that just a direct lifetap, or does it have a positional (or other) requirement? Is it on a refresh timer for use (if so, how long)? Just curious how big a role lifetaps play 2. there was talk of an invisibility at one point, I don't currently see it in the spell lineup (or I missed it as I looked through the trainer). Any word on an invis for release? I'm sure I'll think of more, thanks for offering to do this! -Arameus |

Xaices,
I have a question about DC. First of all, at what rates is it increasing, and by saying "a tick of DC" what kind of mob power decrease exactly are we talking about? Also, suppose DK is leading a group into a dungeon and 3 mobs pop out from around the corner. 1 gets stunned for 40 seconds, 2 others get engaged by DK and the group. I understand DK will need to switch targets to maintain aggro on both best he can. My question is, when target switch from Mob A to mob B happens, what happens to DC accumulated against MobA? is it dropped? is it halted? does it have a timer till its dropped? How does this mechanic work? On how many mobs at once can a DK maintain DC debuff? What happens if a mobC hits DK, but DK doesnt hit the mobC "Actively" ? Does DC apply to that mobC than? I have a plenty more questions, I need to come up with a better formulation hehehe. But if you could find a time to answer above pile, I would be very grateful, Thank you from all DKs on this forum and me personally. |

Harrow - Melee attack/Back Positional Scythe of Doom - Melee Attack/ CAOE Cull - Spell Attak / Opponent must be stunned to use. No life tap is for free. Harrow you have to get behind the enemy, Shadow step is you setup. (macro that btw) Scythe of Doom CAOE so if you got mobs mezed infront of you likely you best not use it. Cull works off any stun or mez yours a grp mates any one.. You personaly as a dread have Vengance 3 sec stun, Omnious Fate timer/hit stun, in a grp this usualy gets reduced to a interupt becasuse all the hits get used up in a matter of a second. If you realy want that life tap from Cull use Bleak Foeman get the block use vengance to get the 3 sec stun and life tap. Cull is a spell and since most tanks will not dump a lot of points into the INT you realy are better off just going for Harrow. In the last few raids I have been on I have had no need to life tap healers keep me up just as they are suppose to. I would say that you life taps may come in more need soloing than in a group or raid tho I run with good healers so by chance you get one of those that just cant play their class well be ready to start using your taps. 2. Shadowy Veil is our invisibility. Currently it is not available to testers because it does not work ingame this is not just for DK's this is accross the board for all classes that can INVIS. What you see rogues and rangers use now is Stealth it is diferent than invisibility do not confude the two. Shadowy Veil when fixed will be avialable at lvl 26. It is a 3 minute duration, usable in combat Invisibility. hope that answers your questions

Here are some notes on the new Dreadful Countenance DC 1 Plus 5% incoming crit chance Resistance Debuff DC 2 Plus 7% incoming crit chance Increased Resistance Debuff Spiritual spells do 5% more damage DC 3 Plus 9% incoming crit chance Increased Resistance Debuff Spiritual spells do 10% more damage Modifies opponents damage by -5% DC 4 Plus 11% incoming crit chance Increased Resistance Debuff Spiritual spells do 15% more damage Modifies opponents damage by -7% DC 5 Plus 13% incoming crit chance Increased Resistance Debuff Spiritual spells do 20% more damage Modifies opponents damage by -10% Increases your damage by 15% Provoke increases depending on DC level Some chains effectiveness adjusted by DC level Some Chains only available at certain levels of DC Incoming Crit = Increases the chance an attack against your opponent (made by anyone ) will crit Every time you gain a level of DC you have a 50% chance to stun your opponent for 2-3 seconds. The rate of DC increase is up to you the player the more abilities you use that have an Increase to DC on them the faster it will rise. DC is an AoE. That means that all mobs with in its radius is effected by DC. DC Rises the fastest on the target you are engaged with. The rate at which it rises is directly corrilated with the DC abilities you use. DC rises on all non engaged targets with in the AoE range at a significantly slower rate. How ever you will get a bonus to the rate at which DC rises when you switch to a new target that was not previously engaged and had the AoE effect build up on it. Example: If it took you a minute to build up to DC 5 on Target A the one you started from 0 on it would only take you 30seconds to build up to DC 5 on Target B because you get the bonus. There is currently a bug with DC in which a mob not engaged but with in DC radius does not display the DC level of which it is at when targeted. It will how ever Display as soon as it is engaged with a DC Rising ability. And you will notice it does not start at 0 it may start at 1.5 right after you engage. DC does not diminish as long as you stay engaged with any target. If you stop fighing but are with in agro range DC will diminish very very slowly. If you run away and the mob leashes its reset. If the mob leaves your DC radius it will slowly slowly degrade. Hope that answers you multiple questions

This is great info!
After reading through how DC works, I do have a few more questions: 1. Do DC effects from multiple DKs stack? i.e. Double the bonus with 2 DKs in the group? 2. Do DC effects pass to players not in the DKs group (thinking multi-group raids here - will the raid need one DK for everyone to gain the DC benefits, or one per group?) Thanks again, this is great! |
