Dread Knight class leader?

Guys,

quick set of questions if you would please(administrators may know?) -

- do we have an official class leader, and who is it?
I know I saw a post by one of VG developers, who mentioned they designated class leaders and they have been of real big help.

- Do these designated class leaders visit this site? If no, would it make sense to specifically invite them?

- whomever is in beta as a DK, please post more info/screenshots on what DKs look like and how fun they are to play if you have a minute!

All good points, velzevul - the class leaders on the OVF break down as:

Warrior: Melstan and Raive
Paladin: Oldpaly
Dread Knight: Stymie

As for beta, I've been playing a Warrior and so has Tazzrin - we've been without a DK specialist for a while now, and we never managed to get a Paladin specialist.

I assume that we are talking about VG dvs that are the class leaders we are speaking about. Or are these volunteers from VG fighters that have taken on this mantel.

These leaders are hand picked from various guilds or are just lone wolfs who have a ton of play time to reach max levels.

1 thing i learnt from EQ (not to say that SoE team has been real good there listening to user content, but nonetheless...) is this:

if your class leader is a frigging level 54 toon with 20 minutes a week playtime and 7 AAs, ur class is gonna be boned and shafted and diminished and diverged from its intended role more and more and more, every darn expansion. And this is because if a person doesnt play, that person doesnt know what to, quite simply, bitch about. They point out random things just to say something, or dont say anything, like everything may be fine.

EQ SK leader, Braelle i believe or something along those lines i think, was a great raiding SK, and SK were getting boost after boost after boost every expansion for last 4-5 expansions, because he was bringing up valid issues and concerns to whatever ears could hear them, and he KNEW his class.

So i am trying to make sure DK have a good class leader. And unfortunately, one of them hasnt posted to official VG boards for quite a while.

On January 16th, 2007 the Official Vanguard Forums will close. We’re excited to provide this opportunity before launch for the community and our Affiliated Sites to adjust and familiarize themselves with one another. The Affiliated Fansites are dedicated to serving the community and its needs and will be the primary source for information and discussion about Vanguard; while the program will change and grow this goal will remain the same.

The official forums will be closing so that doesn't really matter. They are going to rely on the fan-sites like this one to keep people informed and it will be up to Sigil to decide if we get official class reps like we had in EQ. I am sure whoever those people are, they will be picked by Sigil. We may get to suggest some people or they may just pick them. I am sure we will have a say in it though.

Now we can have people dedicated from these boards to organize our requests and send them into their feedback department, as well as organize and report on any replies, but this may be the most we can do. As far as I know, Sigil does not have anything in place for Class or Community leaders at this time. Considering they are going to let the fan-sites handle the ebb and flow of information, I am sure they will in the future. Especially if we start inquiring about it.

Maybe I can shed some light on all this.

Your Dread Knight Class Lead is me, Xaices. Technicaly I am your Class Co-Lead but Stymie is AFK ETA on return unknown. So I am your central point of contact. I understand all your concerns about having a class lead.

So let me give you some background on me.

I have been part of this community and been following the development of this game since 2003. I use to run Vanguard Vent. Vanguard vent was a a ventrilo server that was hosted by me to allow for people to come talk about the game voice to voice. It lost fan base after the launch of beta 3 as many of its regulars got in at that point and NDA was still up.

I have been testing the dread for some time, even before I was made Co-Lead and probably the reason why I was chosen to be. Before I was lead I leveled 4 Dreads 1 to lvl 30, 1 to level 20, 1 to level 18, and 1 to level 10 and I would switch back and forth between each one every time they patched or made an adjustment to test the Dread at different levels. Then I was made Co-lead and given a lead toon which I can now /levelset /summongear and a lot of other things like change attributes one the fly etc. Which eleviated a lot of my pain of having to swtich between 4 diferent toons.

Lightning has invited me to make my home here on the VF bords and I just may. However that all depends on what Sigil has instore for class leads post OVF closure and launch.

I talked to Avair (Michael Mann Sigil Dev responsible for the Dread Knight Class) about the class leads future. Unfortunately he did not have an answer at the time. So I do not know if Sigil is even going to keep us on after launch (I would Hope so), If they have a website inparticular they all want us on as a central point for Class leads, etc. I just do not have an answer for you.

If some of you are unaware I run the sticky for the Dread Knights on OVF. Its is a little dated as I have spent every free hour testing the dread and creating documentation for submission to Sigil. If you have not gotten the chance or were unaware of that there was actualy Dread Knight discussion forums I suggest you make your way over to OVF and catch up.

Now since Lightning was kind enough to invite me over to VF I will frequent these bords as much as possible. Will I continue to be the lead and will this be my permenent home we will just have to wait and see what Sigil has in mind.

Wondering what my role is as a class lead. First and for most I am your representative to Sigil. I am also inpart Sigil's representative to you. What I am not, I am not a Sigil employee. I am not a developer. I can not change things with a flip of the switch. How ever I can and do take your feedback and present it to Sigil. I am non biased I present feedback and input to sigil reguardless of my own beliefs. How ever I am required by Sigil to test and confirm before submission if it is in relation to a bug glitch hitch etc.

I am an involved Class Lead how ever I also have a life outside and job outside of Vanguard. So I ask if you are going to put expectations on me you inplace realistic ones.
