Greetings fellow DKs!
Greetings all!
I am very much looking foward to seeing what Vanguard has to offer. I started playing EQ in earily 99 and played a Shadowknight till 2005 when I switched over to EQ2 and played one. I was one of the GLs for about one of the oldest guilds in EQ and MTed quite a bit and truely enjoyed the idea behind the old SK. I know VGs idea behind the new DK is sure to be some what different but I am looking forward to it none the less. I am hopeing for some really class defining features that are sure to make us stand out and be useful in our own right. That Dreadknight karmic feel! Looking foward to joining your community here and I wish you all well! Haruchai |

Thank you for the warm welcome!
I see its rather slow here. I did alot of looking around till my eyes blured after coming here and it seems slow all over unless you are on the FoH board. But I guess thats to be expected, seeing that they are only entering phase 3 of beta, and they seem pretty closed liped on any info about the game itself. So I guess there is not much to really talk about till we get more info. It looks like the game has a quite a while yet befor its relased, it seems like late august might be the closest idea of a date. But I have read that there is nothing firm and the game wont be released till its ready so that could be late when ever. After all I have heard and read, I was really pumped up for this game, waiting till the end of the year is like walking along in the summer heat and tripping into a cold spring pond. Ahh well I will just have to hunt for info as it comes and hope I have somebody here to talk to about it. Haruchai |

Well there is somthing that is kind of odd, think of a storm could with a silver lining.
On the FoH boards (never been a fan of them) some person started flaming VG and spreading all sorts of rumors. It got so bad that Brad from VG stepped in pretty pissed off and gave up some info I think to help ease all the crap that one person was spewing out. Of course this may be old hat for you guys, I just looked all this up so it was somthing of intrest to me. I hope it gets to a point soon where they start releasing some info. I have some pretty serious questions in my head since they are trying to make a better EQ. I am really, really curious what lessons they say they have learned from it so as to not make them again. One of them right of the bat is how it will effect one of our abilities. That debuffing fear arua we have is said to be one of our main freatures. What happens if you have two DKs in a group? Does it make one of us obsolet? Will they stack with diminishing returns and/or will we have one or two other abilities that will be useful to the group no matter how many DKs you have in it? Cause this will have a direct effect on our worth in a raid. I would not want to force any other tanks out of a raid but I would hate raids for us to turn into only one DK needed so the rest can sit the bench. Add to that, EQ had the issue of constantly making raid mobs immune to good abilities which again effected your worth. Take the old EQ Paladin for instance. One of his main abilities was Stun. But instead of making some mobs just resist being stun more and other mobs shorten the duration of the stun do to just being tuff. Many mobs over a certain lvl were just immun to it. Therefor making a prim ability uesless 99% of the time at your lvl and a few below. So of course I am concerned how they will handle it here. I hope they will have gotten away from the Top Dog tank mentality to. I hope tanks will be based more on the skill of the player/equipment and that certain tanks may be better then others in certain situations therefor making a driving need for all tanks. Most fun group I ever had in EQ was a Shaman, Pal and 4 SKs. Wasn't the most powerfu groupl but it was durable as hell! And sometimes its just fun hanging out with other Tanks and not worring about Rogs and Enc, etc. May kill slower but we are all tough tanks and don't have to watch everyones health bar as much, just go and beat stuff up, do it the grog way for a bit hehe. Sorry if I talk to much, I quit EQ and EQII and didnt want to play WOW, and DnD Online I had a bad feeling about so nothing to do at the moment. VG just got me sorta excited is all. Take care! ![]() |

I'm sure they thought of stuff like stacking debuffs, spell immunities, et cetera... I don't think they'd do something as stupid as make it a one-effect-only type of spell.
And besides, it's just one of the abilities DreadKnights have, so I'm sure there will be others, even if one becomes useless in a certain raid ![]() |

greetings
Hello, I am new here as well...
I really wish some new DK info would be released... Normally I play the healer type, but in Vanguard I am very interested in being a DK. I always loved the idea of SKs in EQ and wish I had made one... In Vanguard I think its about time I join the ranks of the Anti-Paladin ![]() Anyway, glad to be aboard! |
