Dread Knight as crowd control??!! Fanguard Information!
Here's a little secret sauce from Darrin McPherson, Vanguard developer known on the forums as Talisker.
I was speaking to him about crowd control and how the game was designed without a crowd control class. He said that crowd control would be present, but in limited form, and spread out among several classes instead of concentrated in one specific class. Going into more details, I found out that the Dread Knight will have limited crowd control ability in the form of a fairly long duration stun. He didn't specify the duration, but mentioned that it would be long enough to be effective... I'm thinking in the 20 second range. This stun will break if the mob takes damage... so in that respect it works like a mez. This gives the Dread Knight the ability to keep a foe out of the action. Depending on the duration of the stun and the recast time, this might be a way to hold a mob out of the action completely until the group is ready to deal with them, or it may only be a partial crowd control method. Other classes will have abilities such as snares and roots that can be used in conjunction with pulling to limit the number of opponents a party has to face at once. I for one am very happy to see at least one of the protective fighter classes with the ability to deal with adds so effectively. |

to be honest i'm glad they aren't instituting dual wield for defensive fighters. Or job is defense. hence the need for a shield. let the light fighetrs have dual wield and do crazy dmg. I'm all about facing the mob head on and wathcing it cower away in fear before i strike it down.
the 2hander is our way of doing dps if we aren't going to be tanking in a fight. helpful if theres more than one tank, and you happen to be a lil less geared than the other, or you just want to be lazy and autoattack. Fadeyn The First

It seems every class will have some sort of CC, but the dread knight will be the premium of the protective fighters for this. I am happy to hear this

Sounds like they will be more than just the 'Dark Anti-Paladin.' Their de-buffs, stuns and way of crowd-control make this class very viable indeed.
Anyone know which (if any) of the protective fighter classes can use two-hand weapons?... That brings up... I wonder if there will be a 'switch' option for weapons. |
