If it takes 2000 xp points to achieve a level and you recieve 3 points per kill then you know you killed approximately 666 mobs to level. If you cast dark ward every pull, and an abymisal chain every fight then you know you cast a conjuration spell about 1300 times during that level.

Minus the fact that you didn't cast it every fight, or you'd have more skillups. It's easy to forget, or to intend to cast it every fight...

Ohh I forgot you watch me play, pssst it is hotkeyed, and this post was to refute that people have "no idea" how many times they have casted conjuration spells, speaking for myself, I have a very good idea.

What is your pull hotkey?

I have found that because of the global cooldowns hotkeys don't quite work like I would expect them to. Often times things don't cast and if you have enough stuff on your hotkey you won't even notice.

Not saying that is what is happening here, but it is possible. I personally have noticed that my conjuration is ramping up quite nicely. It was abysmal up until we hit the infinium mines area in Qualia.

I thought I was casting dark ward every chance I got, and snaring at least once a pull, but most likely I was not. Since we got to this area and just about every mob tries to run I *have* to snare on every pull (I play primarily in a duo and the cleric can't snare). That combined with the change to getting skillups on resists has really helped.

I think there is a formula for level involved somehow I will say though, and I think that level extends to yourself on defensive casts. It seems like if I target a mob that is at the level that my current skill would normally be max for I get much more skillups (even if that mob is grey to me). I don't have extensive data, only a gut feeling on that one, but it certainly seems that way. I can get 3 or 4 skillups off a single bar of mana just snaring the mob, fearing the mob, snaring the mob, fearing the mob, etc. It seems like an equivalent number of dark ward casts does not yeild but maybe 1 skill up.

my main macro is:

/cast "Slay"
/cast "Dark Ward"
/reactionautocounter
/cast "Malice"
/cast "Vexing Strike"

works quite good for me so far and solves the nasty low conj problem.
You might want to check ur macro set up . I found that with this line up Slay was bugging out my chains so Wrack would hit but Ruin would be burnt
Think it has something to do with slay checking the mobs hp. Besides that why would u want slay or darkward burning ur combo chanins and reaction spells.... maybe its just me but your set up is not very effective.
