I might have to resort to that macro, just because I got way too much shit on my taskbar, and I want to keep it smaller... clicking all over the screen sux. And sigil's hotkeys are not that good... I mean have you tried pressing CTRL-SHIFT ?!? WTF! In all other games it is Alt-Ctrl-#, or Alt-#. 3 digit button hotkeys are useless, it takes too long to press them.

Velzevul, I discovered the the best hotkey setup for people that use ASWD, is the letter keys surround those keys.

e.g.:

Q,E,F,C
Shift-Q, Shift-E, Shift-R, Shift-F, Shift-C, Shift-X
CTRL-Q, CTRL-E, etc, etc.

You can also change the key setup for the hotkeys. I have mine set to # for primary, Alt-# for Secondary, and Ctrl-# for Tertiary. I use a gaming keyboard with a 9 button and 2 mode setting command pad to access them, so I didn't really need to change them, but just in case I was on the main keyboard and got jumped they are keys that make sense to me. Plus then I don't have to remember to switch my keybindings between games.

You aren't stuck with the three-key combo hotbuttons, just have to update them in your settings.

Conjuration is the least used. Dark Ward and Abysmal Chains are the only two that are conjuration. The problem that exhisted is that early on players did not use these two abilities as often as their other spell schools and as they gained levels conjuration fell further and further behind because it was not getting a skill up on failed attempts. That has changed you now get skill ups on failed attempts and you should use these two abilities as much as possible to raise your skill so that they are effective in combat.

It still raises too slow. out of a total of maybe 16 hours play time I have gotten 2 skill ups... this is fighting 4-6 dot mobs 41-47 at level 43 and having to use dark ward every time it was up. If snare is getting resisted so often because of this then at least it will be better later.... but its still to slow.
I think its at 133 now.

I started pulling with abyssal chain and also using dark ward whenever it was up for about 2 levels and now conjuration is capped. I'm level 36, and at 34, conjuration was about 150 below cap.

skilling always seems to come in bulks, no skill up for like 30 casts, and then all of a sudden, 5 in a row

abyssal chain seems to give me skill more often than dark ward, but that might just be my imagination

I see a huge difference now, snare works about 80% of the time on 3-dot mobs 3 levels higher than me

It was changed to allow skill-ups on resists but I would imagine the rate on a skill up from a resist is lower than when it succeeds and I would assume that is intended. If they are at 140 skill (level 14 equivelant) casting on level 40+ mobs there would be substantial resists on Abyssal.

I am doubtful there is a penalty in the code for having a larger disperity in "current:max skill ratio". I think it's probably the same rate from skill 1 - 500, they just aren't getting enough successes to keep up with someone with a skill level closer to max and they are leveling too fast and compounding the issue. Double experience weekends certainly didn't help anyone trying to increase their conjuration level vs max allowable.

Without someone posting their actual logs of skill-ups per attempt in 10,000 casts, and whether it was on a resist or success, it's hard to really say how much someone uses a skill in a given time and "a lot" , "all the time", and "extensively" are subjective generalizations. A lot happens in an hour that can distract you from a pattern and the number of times you actually use an ability.....not to mention frustrated people tend to overstate.

If they are actually casting dark ward 100 times for an average of 1 skill up then they need to start keeping a log because something is wrong.

My brother is a shaman. I have had to listen to him tell me how he uses conjuration "all the time" but it doesn't go up. He was at 93 / 250 the other night. I played his shaman for 3 hours in a group and increased his conjuration by 22 points. I didn't chain cast anything I just made an effort to include a conjuration ability in every fight. I would make 1-3 conjuration casts per mob. Of those casts 1-2 per mob were offensive abilities, like our abyssal chains, so would often be resisted, and the other occasional sprinkled in was life ward so it always landed like our dark ward would.

My brother's response was that I was lucky and it didn't make sense because he sat there for "almost an hour" chain casting his life gem (whatever resurects them) until he got frustrated when he didn't get any skill ups. Wait what? You can farking get skillups from that? So I logged him on again and chain cast it for 10 minutes and got 4 skill ups......it probably would have been faster but I didn't know you could ALSO chain cast on your pet so I was casting, destroying the orb in his bag, then casting again.
