If Paladin armor had str, con, vit or DK armor had Str, dex, int then maybe you could imply that the devs were showing you that vit for paladins and int for DK's was more important than we thought. But as it stands now, everything points to Str, Con, Dex as all tanks primary stats, with some variations in what we would spend left over points in.
Devil's advocate speaking inside of me (even though I agree with Ellestil), 2 things - 1) Con gives really low returns 2) maybe, just maybe, as a tank you get so much plate that adds to STR/CON/DEX, that it is a worthwhile idea to invest points into INT/VIT, as there is a real low chance of you getting that gear later on.

Well after much deliberation and trying different stat strategies...im a LG..so +3str +1 con +2%mit...

I have gone...4 dex...and 3 int and 3 wisd...and it has made a world of difference..


Simply as you become a more rounded out character and that it takes alot to run oom and spell damage is higher...

Also most of the best AC gear has Str-Con-Hp and dex....

I just find I have more staying power....and thus more choice..

But it is your own Avatar and the picture in your mind should be what you follow!....

I'm not online right now to give exact numbers, but at 50 I believe CON gives somewhere between 3 and 4 HP/point. A nonhuman, who can allocate 4 discretionary points to CON per level, would have 164 more CON at lvl 50+100% (41 levels*4 points) by maxing CON than by putting no points into it.
At 3-4 HP/point, this translates into 492-656 more HP at level 50 than a tank with no discretionary points in CON.

On another note - just because the item designers want to give us STR/DEX/CON on everything doesnt mean these are the best attributes for us. We've seen ample evidence that the dev team doesn't always communicate well with each other - apparently some of them still don't realize that INT affects taunts. There is/has been plenty of information in the game documentation that is misleading or just plain wrong.
