Re: Lotro
It's gorgeous, and a lot of the folks there love it! And that's good for Turbine! To put that much money into a game to have it not take is frightening, at best! That's a lotta money!
It has much of the "water color" look that VSoH has. You can tall that the artists put their hearts into the game. And yes, it's alive! Almost too much, with NPCs roaming around talking everywhere, but at least it gives you background and the overall feel they were trying to get for the areas. It's the play style that I'm not fond of, and the fact that my computer (that has a little problem with VSoH, but not much any more) has trouble running it smoothly. It hangs really bad at times, kinda shudders (almost like trying to run up an incline that you're not suppose to go up) when I'm running over a field, or even tosses me back a bit, like run 10 steps and back 5, at times. I wish them all the luck! OH...and SoE doesn't hate gamers. Gamers have made them rich! It's just that they hate dealing with them! ![]()

Re: Lotro
Yes! Doesn't necessarily have to be going into a new area for me. Just suddenly, we're playing FREEZE FRAME and you have to wait! Sometimes longer than zoning into one of the buildings (which drives me whacky!).

Very odd. It's been puzzling the Turbine devs for some time too, I suspect -- or they know what causes it and simply can't practically do anything about it.

Re: Lotro
I love the instrument playing in this game. Heck, I'd keep playing just for that aspect alone. Looking forward to see the final touches done to the music and be able to sit around with some other people and create some good original tunes.
In case anyone hasn't seen nor played - you hit the 1-8 keys, using shift or control to change an octive or string (havn't paid much attention to which, just hitting buttons atm) and you can actually create your own music based off what keys/notes you're playing. Some have even remapped their keyboard for easier play, which I'll get around to doing eventually. |

Re: Lotro
There are some cool things about the game, but overall it kind of felt like a prettier, deeper DDO.
I probably won't play it on release. It's fun for a little while, but there is a lot of stuff that feels random, and a lot of people won't like how quest-driven it is. It's more of an "Amusement Park" style of gameplay than a "Sandbox" style. |
