Well... Iran's been crotchety with just about everyone for several decades now, and the graphic novel is only about -- what, 10 years old.
That said, in my completely cynical opinion this is a pure excuse to get all outraged, indulge in some spin and public appearances, and generally make a stink about nothing. THAT being said, the Persian empire back then was *huge* and is quite a fascinating subject for study, even if that's being used as an excuse today to get all pissy about .... a movie.

Why do people try to pick apart movies which are loosely based on history? The movie (or comic/graphic novel) was never billed a historical documentary.
It uses a historical scenario to tell a story. sheesh.

I can only hazard a guess and say that the world is in such a state that people are picking apart every little thing that becomes popular. They do this to try to bend it to benefit themselves, trying to create the greatest uproar they can, with little or no effort.

*sigh* its a movie, its art...its supposed to be provocative IN YOUR FACE action.
And the movie is not depicting Persians as evil. Merely eccentric and powerfull. I mean honestly...if you were a demi god, would you not have millions of soldiers, naked women and gold everywhere?? But everyone is entitled to their own opinion...no matter how ignorant that may be. PS If somone depicted Romanians( im from romania btw) in battle against the Ottoman empire centuries ago as vampiric fighters with bat fangs i would LOVE THAT.

Saw the movie opening night around here. Was alright, not the greatest movie I've ever seen.
By the way, what happened to Aen? All his posts are ...; what was he banned for?
