the guild game

dunno if this is the right forum, if not, my apologies.

one of the fun games we've discovered inside of different guilds is the "what would you do" game. It is taking a situation from a movie, putting your character (by class more than lore) into the situation and having you show how you'd help/improve or uttlerly screwup the situation.

the 2nd LOTR movie, the siege of Helm's deep is always a good place to start, given your classes ability, what would you do to help the the good guys, (or if you'd rather, what woudl you do to help the orcs)

the only "rules" is any postulations have to be based upon actual reasonable numbers of what your class is capable of, assuming taking on even level mobs.

Re: the guild game

It's a forum game...letting people expound on what they would do with thier character in a known situation...like a movie situation. Letting them apply thier creativity and ego like peanut butter on jelly.

Re: the guild game

Hm...what would my character have done in Helm's Deep... Let's see, that's about 1000 on foot and 1000 horsemen (according to the book). *conjures thought bubble*

-----

Gimli, son of Gloin: I am surprised to find another Dwarf in this place.
Denalid Alehammer: Indeed, it is only by chance that I am here. I came only recently to learn the Middle Earth style of weapon smithing.
Gimli: And now you are putting your knowledge to use, I see.
Denalid: Aye. I have enough material for perhaps thirty good weapons. Some of these will poison your enemies; some will cut through even the thickest armor; and some will burn our foes. About half will give the bearer extra energy when needed, and all are imbued with strength.
Gimli: An impressive array. But what will you do when the battle starts?
Denalid: I have arranged to be with a group of particularly large warriors near the gate. While they take the first attack with their shields, I will quietly fell the orcs from behind.
Gimli (shaking head): Not a very honorable fight.
Denalid: Perhaps not, but I plan to be alive at the end. But let us not talk about such things. Here, have a look at this axe...

[After the battle]

Gimli: Well, I see you managed to pull through.
Denalid: Aye, I avoided more than my share of swings, and dealt out plenty of my own.
Gimli: At least one of your weapons served its purpose. Here is your axe, with the blade still sharp.
Denalid: Keep it. I cannot carry it with me when I leave.
Gimli (bowing): This is a superior weapon, and a mighty gift! My thanks, friend.
Denalid: Hard to believe that it's made out of tin, eh?

-----

Hm...on second thought, crafters don't make very exciting reading, do we?

Yeah...I suppose that, lacking the action of an adv, the best I can do here is parody. Tune in next time for..."Anduril, Flame of the West" vs. "Orcish Longsword"! Watch as Anduril is nerfed to make things fair!
