Just a short post as I don't want to rant about anything in particular.This morning I cancelled my subscription to Vanguard after only 3 days.The game in theory will be great but the actual gameplay and look of the game is severely lacking and won't be ready for at least 6 months.In no uncertain terms am I going to pay to play a working beta in progress.

I had high hopes for this game and I was impressed with the diplomacy and crafting but the actual reported stunning looks just are not there and the way the characters look and move is comical so unless things change drastically in the months subscription my game came with I won't be playing again for at least 6 months if the game is still running because as it stands I have doubts about that too.

Will keep looking in from time to time for updates etc but for now goodbye and good luck.

The stunning looks are there if you have the rig to run it, this game is by far the best MMO I have ever played, from the fog in the morning to the haze in the afternoon. Also the bright water reflections get whent he sun shines on them, if you are running balanced and you don't have everything maxed included Super High Quality then you aren't seeing it all. Its great for me.

To each their own I surpose, I've only managed a little time in live due to commimtments, I know, nothing happens untill I want free time, typical. I find the art, look and feel to be stunning I agree with you about the animations are some times stupid but that wouldn't put me off playing as I know these will be fixed during the game's life and I play mostly in first person. I find the gameplay good, ok only played for a little bit but there was about 20 of us in the one area and everyone managed to get what they needed and it was fun running around doing the stuff.

well Jay, I'm curious with what you expected? I run the game on balanced and have no problems until I get to the cities. I could not stand WoW for very long with it's cartoonish graphics. Vanguard I love the swaying trees and rustling grass. Along with the character graphics and mobs.

What are you comparing to? EQ2? WOW?

To each his own, but after 3 days canceling because of looks? Not specifically to you, but I'm surprised how everyone expects the world on day 1. DAOC was my all time favorite and that game took about a year to really get smoothed out.

Like others posted before me, to each his own. One person's stunning looks might be comical to others. Good luck wherever the MMO winds take you. I'll miss your random posts of "Is it Tuesday yet?"

Wow, my rig is modest and I run at high performance, and I am still blown away by the look..art, graphics and detail of the game.

IMO it is hard to judge a game in 3 days, I assume you still have most of a month left until your subscription expires. I suggest giving yourself more playtime to explore, learn more about the game etc

I think it is gorgeous, so much so that I REALLY need to clean out m harddrive directory cos I imagine I have many megs/gigs of ss's from beta mainly of vistas or eirie foggy forests etc.

I played on Med (whatever it was called early on) then found that High worked fine then later as they tuned more realized ummm Very High is practically no diff in perf so I had been playing on VHigh for a long time.

Only prob I see is that I just finally tried a lumberjack (and I'm OK with that ;P) and have trouble finding cuttable trees except by accident. I remember in early early beta it was like ez with my graphics set low. Books in grass are tricky but I remember to lower that if I can't find something (like Tactics in newbie De quest esp since location changed)

One thing I will note, I built a new system back in April/May? at middle cost levels, it totalled to like 1700 but 600$ of it was a video card as I bought the BFG7900GTXOC shortly after release (it is less than half that now ) Basic stuff: 4800X2 (pre M2), 2GB, 74G Raptor (VG is on raptor, that and BF2 which I need to remove are the only 'games' on my system drive), 250G Sata3, XFi (added later tho so not inc in that price), Asus32Delux MB, most of the rest stuff I picked that doesn't matter much (P180Case etc)

A good question is what you compared against MMO or what singleplayer game. Lastly, if it is performance at the very high etc, then Vanguard will wait for YOU to be 'patched' ;P hehe - it may require a semi decent + rig now but as time passes that requirement will seem less and less as pcs continue to improve/drop in price.
