Question What do you read?

While you can't get your fix from Vanguard, what world do you live in that's created by words?

I'm a huge Piers Anthony fan. I've read his entire bibliography, and I'm currently working my way through Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series (on book four.. when I get the chance to pick it up..)

I started this thread as a way for us to recommend books to one another..

So.. What do you read?

Re: What do you read?

Funnier than Psycho... more chilling than Jeeves Takes Charge... shorter than War and Peace... the new Dirk Gently novel, The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul.

Douglas Adams

Re: What do you read?

I tend to read Forgotten Realms, R.A. Salvatore's books are the main ones at the moment but i'll porbably branch out into the other authos when i've run out of books from him

Re: What do you read?

At the moment reading Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. Very good book. For any fantasy guys out there I would heartily recommend Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever by Stephen Donaldson, the main character is hard to like but you can understand why by reading the book, and Donaldson has a strange way of writing but its very good imo. Also for the other sci fi fix Otherland by Tad Williams is an epic sci fi series. All heartily recommaned but not at the one time as they are all quite big.

Re: What do you read?

I read the back of the shampoo bottle while I'm in the restroom.

I second this one. If you can handle some badguys who are actually, well, bad, then this is one of the best series ever written.

I'm currently trying to read through A Song of Ice and Fire, but it keeps ticking me off, so I'll stop reading for a few weeks, then I'll start to wonder what happens next, so I'll read until I get ticked off again, then I'll pause. I've been reading for six months and I'm only on A Clash of Kings

Re: What do you read?

Mercedes Lackey, Diana Gabaldon, David Eddings. Most recently I've reread a lot of my Mercedes Lackey series collection, my favorite being The Last Herald Mage trilogy.

I second that as well! And Williams also wrote one of my favorite fantasy books: Memory, Sorrow and Thorn

Doh how did I forget that?
And Nil A song of Ice and Fire is a good series if you stick with it, but man are there annoying boring characters that just can knock you out of the book.
