Battle of the Brands
Okay I know alot of you have been dying to tell the world why your brand is better. So do it. Just no hitting below the belt.
Personally I think EQ2 is way better then WoW, hands down. Those cheesey graphics, the horrible questing, pathetic tutorial, and the super speed of leveling, just make me want to hurl. Hitting max level in 2 weeks, is ridiculous. EQ2 is def better then that. Questing is amazing, some may be tedious but lots more fun. Plus having to stratagize on an Epic mob, instead of attacking him with 400 charecters is way better in raid play. So what you guys think? |

Re: Battle of the Brands
Unfortunately EQ2 alienated entire swaths of dedicated gamers with a very poor release and zero content for the first people to max level. Raiding was extremely tedious back in the day (Feb/Mar of '05) and it just didnt have a good feel. Then they broke the camels back with Station Exchange and that was about it for many people. Its actually a big part of when and why I started this site, I was looking for my gaming salvation. Ironic that SoE ended up taking over for Microsoft a year later.

Re: Battle of the Brands
Cheesy graphics is one of the reasons I never had any interest in EQ2. >.>

Re: Battle of the Brands
I don't know how you can say that the graphics in EQ2 are cheesy when there much better looking then the cartoony look of WoW. Pirotes I can't say much bout 05, didn't start playing till 06 so I don't know bout the problems they had or were having after launch. Hopefully Vanguard is able to work out some more bugs then EQ2 by ther launch date. I don't know much about raiding back then Either, nowadays I guess it could be tedious sometimes, but overall I like them more then the "swamp the enemy with the whole server" raiding of Wow. O yeah and crafting is alot more fun in EQ2 hopefully the one in vanguard takes some pointers from EQ2 in making a better crafting system as a whole. Does anyone know where I could get more information about the crafting system for vanguard?

Re: Battle of the Brands
EQ2's launch was the biggest open beta of all time! 10 months later, they redid the game. I had already given up on it, but that just fried me!
I will admit that the release of this current new expansion, reintroducing GFay and Kelethin and surrounding areas, has really gotten a lot of attention! And, rightly so! It's actually good, fun, easy to deal with The Exchange? /shudder VanguardPlayers.station.sony.com? /cringe

After the redo, EQ2 wasn't too bad, and I feel Freeport was excellently done (after the redo). However, it was too little, too late. Dungeons in EQ2 were pretty boring, whilst those in WoW were really quite entertaining (I still enjoy doing instances in WoW, but I don't like the game overall). Another problem that EQ2 suffered from was the generic classes. There really wasn't much difference between a monk and an assassin.

Re: Battle of the Brands
I played the trial of wow, got to half the max level in the 10 trial to. Figured I didn't want to play it anymore after that. To boring for me. The classes have become exclusivily different now ever since the expansion. You can now spec your charecter in your own class, plus now they have class specific armor. Trust me also Assasin isn't close to monks. Monks have decent DPS and good tanking skill (probably one of the best duelers) and Assasins have the largest DPS in the game (a bit to unfair I might add, I have a ranger and my dps is pwnd by Assasins). I will admit though the dungeons really do suck. Not much to them then just a really long maze with npc scattered about ready to hand out random quests. Hopefully Vanguard will fix that problem, and make some dungeons that arn't just fun the first time you go through but always.
