Re: Battle of the Brands
I agree, instances in WoW are definitely the high point and some of the scripting done in instance encounters and boss encounters makes EQ and EQ2 look pretty bad. I can say that too since I played both up to max level. =)

Re: Battle of the Brands
After $OE killed SWG, I was on a mission to find a game that had the kind of depth that SWG had and potentially had. I tried a few games. WoW and EQ2 being a couple. I tried EQ2 just about after launch simply to have something to take a break from SWG. I really didn't enjoy it much. Didn't hate it, but it was simply not all that entertaining. So I quit and stuck entirely to SWG. Then after the NGE fiasco I decided to try WoW since thats where most of the SWG were screaming for people to go. I played for two hours. I kept trying to figure out what it was that people were so worked up about it. The graphics sucked horribly, it was about as dumbed down as you can get and it was boring beyind belief. So, I went and retried EQ2. Seemed a bit better the second time around. After joining a guild I enjoyed it a bit more and played for about a year. Built a new PC at the beginning of the summer and had a lot of technical issues with getting EQ2 to run on it. Once I finally got in game (took close to a month trying a ton of different fixes.) I had somewhat lost interest. I just reupped the day before I got the email regarding the VSoH preorder. So, I'll play EQ2 til Vanguard comes out. Depends how involved I get into it, but I'll probably quit EQ2 soon after.

PvP was alright, BEFORE they turned it into another grind by adding battle grounds. Anyone that didn't have a life could reach grand marshall/Warlord and get rediculously good items...Not only that it KILLED world PvP. That was bull crap. Also rep grinding..yay more grinding After you are farming all the instances, they get repetitious, and boring. Yay new loot! So we can beat this guy a little easier next time...bah. First character coming up through the levels was fun. First time going through MC, BWL, Onyxia...was a down right blast. But after having 6 lvl 60 characters, and running through those instances countless times, it feels like a job. Especially as a healer. |
