Which of the new Consoles do you prefer and why?

I'm sorry? I am Lots of people taking cheap shots at Sony lately, so it was nice to meet some folks at the lineup this morning that were diggin' it too.

I think alot of people underestimate sony, they have a brand new system comming out...sure the costs arent too attractive but as cobalt said...the potential for the system is rediculous.

Only reason Im not gunna fight in line for one is I just dont have the time for one console let alone two. Eventually when a killer game comes out and the price comes down I'll pick one up but thats probably a year down the road.

If it's any consolation, I'm equally excited about the Wii and its potential. In my chunky post above I detailed why exactly, but in my personal opinion there's likely some good fun to be had. Only problem I foresee is developers focusing less on the deep artsy games I enjoy so much in favor of quick pick'up'n'play titles heavily centered around minigame-like behavior.

While I think it'll definately work for things like WiiSports and WarioWare, something that really disappointed me was the decision for the next Rayman game to be minigame-central rather than a deep platforming title like its succesful predicessors. Rayman 2 is still one of my favourite 3d platformers to date, and so to see something turn into something else that there's plenty of already makes me sad.

On the positive side, the next Monkey Ball seems to offer the best of both worlds. In addition to a huge new assortment of rolly-tilty level manuvering, they have something like 50 minigames of varying difficulty and complexity. Note "addition" rather than "game overhaul" -- I'm just hoping that some brilliant developer out there figures out how to make some truly deep and involving gameplay with the new tools at hand.

On the other hand, or both hands really, it seems that developers are finding more and more interesting uses of the Sixaxis' motion-sensing abilities. I can't say enough how much I'm looking forward to flying games with it (such as Lair & Warhawk), as it enables full directional control without the loss of any button or stick usage. Additionally, it seems like every previously unique Wiimote motion feature in Call of Duty 3, sans actually aiming with the pointer, can be transitioned onto the Sixaxis controller as well. Punching, lobbing grenades, driving, rowing, etc.

Personally, I prefer Gamespot or 1up for gaming news stuff IGN is a little iffy these days.

Well ive never had a problem with IGN, gamespot ive noticied usually doesnt have much of an information difference...it be nice if both sites were completely free for all articles available though.

I'm going with the Wii60 plan. I picked up a Wii at launch and I'm going to pick up a 360 relatively soon. I'll eventually pick up a PS3. Probably one year from now before MGS4 comes out.

I say PS3. Even though it's to spendy right now. I'm way to big of a sony fan. Unfortunatly I've read that alot of games that were sony exclusive, are no on the other consoles because of the spendiness of the PS3. (one Im sure of is Grand Theft Auto) with them losing those exclusive companies, I don't know what will happen to the Playsation. I think sony made a big mistake investing into the blue ray so much, hopefully it doesn't blow up in there face, and we can see a PS4?
