as I said....anyway, anyone know if there going to lock the official soh forums when they release the game? Im at a friends and he says that someone told him yes, but I dont get why a company would do that to their most devoted patrons!

Anyway, I do belive its true...I mean, with a game like that, no way are they NOT going to surpass wows subscribers...and with that number, that little board wont cut it in the future.

Suposedly there going to rely on the Affiliated Sites for any forums. What this does really is cut down there costs. Letting the comunity monitor there own sites releases alot of manpower that would normally be taken up by some one trolling the "Official " forums to remove any unwanted posts. Not a bad idea really. Hopefully there will still be Comunity Corespondents at sigil that will contuinually give updates, Interviews, Patch warnings, ect.. Kinda the same stuff they do now as there reving up for release.

Not only that, but people tend to whine and troll less on non-official forums. The fact that affiliates usually don't feel compelled to put up with it probably has something to do that.

I hope this experiment (sure, EQ did it, but they did it long after the game launched, which produced different effects) works out and we find more constructive posts and community building.

That is correct. The official forums will be downsized to only contain tech and customer support. The rest of the affiliate forums will handle the rest of the existing traffic. It worked pretty well in EQ in my opinion. I used to frequent Graffe's site constantly and EQcasters as well. In EQ2 I didnt go to a single other website since the official forums handled everything. In WoW I goto the official forums from time to time but not in any great capacity. If they blew up tomorrow, which they probably will since they've been down more than up lately, I wouldnt be saddened.
