It really is a fun game, and still beautiful! Some really great players are there, too. It just takes time to make the bad memories go away for many, but so far, I agree, Artic.

After coming back a few weeks ago I finally hooked up with a new guild. No idea what will come of it, but so far they seem nice enough (Xeth server).

There have definitely been many changes: some good, some not so good but over all, I like playing again. Hopefully, this feeling will last a little longer.

I tried a few games on the side, but none really fit my tastes for online play.

The newer ones that I've read about up and coming also have too many features that don't appeal to me.

I think a lot of the problem with Vanguard is that it is too easy to solo. Most people get lazy and since they can solo, they think why not?!

Really! I solo'd my Sorcerer to 50 in a couple months. Sad, but true.

Now, I'm leading a guild of 150+ members and boy, what a difference it makes! Having folks to talk to and do stuff with is 1/2 the experience and I think that's a huge part of what Vanguard is lacking! By making it easy to solo, they've taken away the social aspect of the game in a lot of respects. Also, they really haven't made any decent tools for people to get groups, and the chat system is really antiquated. Crafting and Diplomacy also take away from the social part of the game, since there's no team content in either sphere -- a crying shame really.

Other than that though -- I'm having a great time in Vanguard atm. They've made some nice improvements and added a lot of stuff. If you can find some decent people to travel with, it makes all the difference!

And yes, it is too easy to solo most of the game. But, if you follow the lines of quests and such, you do find you need help! It's the ones that find the easy way to solo and not attempt the harder elements of the game that are losing out, and that's too bad! There are areas that are just phemon that I keep stumbling into. Super!

Well, after a bit of a break from the game (it got too unstable for me) I decided to try it again and was pleased with my decision. A lot of the major bugs that I left for are now fixed, the game is quite stable and playable for me. As for the lack of players; I was surprised to find the game so busy as the world/region chat channels show. I'm on the Xeth server as well as Seradon and both seem to be similar in regards to population. Areas where I would never see another player are now quite busy - must be a good sign. Vanguard is improving, imho, and I'm enjoying it
