What class will you be? and your thoughts?
I have noticed that there is no “what crafting class do you want to be” in this section of the forums so I will start one up.
I reckon the outfitter and prospector sub-class would be the way to go for me. Getting a higher success rate for good quality harvest is more important to me than being able to get more harvest from a node. Outfitter for all the leather Armour a monk will need. My thoughts on the sub-class idea. I really like the idea of all the sub-classes being able to enhance each other in much the same way as an adventuring group. Foreman to increase harvest per node, gleaner to pick out anything the others have not noticed, prospector to increase harvest quality and the reaper to get more harvest per attempt. My guess is that harvesting won’t be absolutely required to group with other sub-classes until near the cap level for those fabled/epic items and by then most of the crafters capable of working with such things would all be about the same level and thus, grouping won’t be a real problem, As in harvesting dangerous places, I don’t think that will be a major problem as well as there will be a good deal of adventurers killing mobs. Could just ask one of the groups if it is ok to tag along with them while they grind away. Just a little bit of social skill can take you a long way and make things a lot easier than it was previously thought. My biggest concern for the crafting spheres is how many combines I would need to do to finally make the end product. In EQ2, the provisioner would have to do a good many combines before he/she would finally get to the finished product causing price inflation. I cannot remember the name of the T2 baked food, but it was selling for 2 gold each, which is way too much.

Re: What class will you be? and your thoughts?
It is difficult to choose Crafting classes until we know more of the mechanics.
How do we learn how to make given objects? Do we get them from a trainer or a pattern from loot or buy from NPC or do they arrive with level gains or rewards for quests? Does a craft class demand specialisation in that a blacksmith must decide if they will make weapons or armor? an outfitter leather or cloth? My thinking is towards carpenter with mason or blacksmith as secondary skill. This would in theory enable me to build ships and houses, wagons, furniture, bows and arrows, staffs to name but a few items. For me the biggy is that much that I would produce would not compete with loot. Wood, Stone or metal harvesting would for most part be common resources rather than the super rare massive raid required craft item. |

Re: What class will you be? and your thoughts?
It may be difficult for some to choose what crafting profession one might want till there is more information. For me it is not that hard to choose regardless of how the crafting process/implementation will be done, as I know I would like to make leather Armour or cloth depending on what the monk can wear.
If the tailoring profession requires specialization in leather armoring, making sails and so on then it is obvious I will be taking the leather armoring specialization. My secondary skill will be whatever makes my main profession easier. I agree with you that Wood, Stone or metal harvesting would for most part be common resources, but I still think components for rare and epics will be rare and require epic mobs that may require raids and many crafters to work together. At least that is what I read in that real long thread by Silius.

Since I am new , off hand from what I have read so far I would like to be a Inquisitor /Stonecrafter /Gleaner . On the other hand I would like to play a Healer /Herbalist . I like woodcrafting also Hmm a ranger!
In any case haven't decided on my main class yet and as it has been said that it will likely to have and influence on my crafting profession that you choose. No matter what I am looking forward to the crafting and the adventure I will seek out in this this game. |

Re: What class will you be? and your thoughts?
After playing Vagrant Story for my 3rd time through (well, halfway through the game so far on #3), I'm definately feeling the weaponsmith urge... For some reason after customizing all kinds of hilts, combining blades, adding gems for special effects and whatnot; makes me want to do the same thing for people in Vanguard. In fact, the weapon/equipment system in Vanguard seems to be very very similar to the one in Vagrant Story, due to the heavy usage of gear-switching. In VS, you might even switch weapons for each enemy you fight! It's pretty intense, but really adds to the experience.

Re: What class will you be? and your thoughts?
I like to play a few different characters and I will pick a main when I have had a chance to play them a bit
a dwarf seamstress with duel wielding axes a shaman herbalist or a woodworking monk not sure on the harvesting side of things as yet. |

Re: What class will you be? and your thoughts?
Hiya all !
First happy to be a new member of Sphere and i hope to be a good member for you all ![]() Has a gnome i will play i will try to craft robes for spellcasters first and see as second work how it will be hard to get the basis for doing the job well. The prob is the choice lol there is a lot of combos possible and some specialisations are not still really well described to be sure to choose the right way. If there is something approaching the tinkering like in EQ1 i will start it in first. Need to read all the forums first then i will post deeper about it !
