Harvesting
Harvesting has 4 class types. They are Foreman, Gleaner, Prospector and Reaper
More info can be found here as far as what each class brings to harvesting. The following FIVE material types can be harvested.
A Harvester may harvest any of the 5, and is not restricted to just one type, unlike some other games. Harvesting uses its own set of stats to determine how easily you can accomplish your tasks. Just like adventuring armor, your harvesting gear will give you boosts to the stats that are only used when you are in that sphere. If you think you might want to harvest during a hunt, adventure, or raid, then you better bring along your harvester gear. All that plate mail only serves to get in the way when you are trying to swing that axe or that pick. You wouldn't wear a leather apron to fight a dragon and you won't try to chop down a huge tree wearing mail. These points bring up some exciting issues that you will have to deal with. You won't be able to fight nearly as well in your harvester gear, so you may want to adventure/harvest in groups of 6 or 8 and alternate between half of you killing off the aggro beasts that wander by, and half of you harvesting the local bounty. Like any other game where there is a risk/reward component, the better stuff is going to be in the most dangerous places. This was found here Last edited by Malkius : 07-14-2005 at 11:12 AM. |

Re: Harvesting
They had something similar introduced in FF11 you could buy a outfit that would increass your chances at sucess in harvesting. But this sounds alot more organized.
I agree with needing a group to harvest. A good group should have at least half fending of aggro and the others being a good mix of the harvesting classes to gain the maximum benifit from a harvest. |

Re: Harvesting
I imagine only guilds or groups of friends will be able to successfully pull this off. It would be quite difficult to continue your career as a harvester without delving into increasingly dangerous territory. Soloing will not really be an option. Not if you want to make it back to the city with your harvested materials alive. Perhaps some players will allow themselves to be hired out as mercenaries or guards, allowing the harvester to gather supplies so that he can sell them to the crafters. That idea to me is pretty cool... and makes the world that much more immersable.

Re: Harvesting
Yes, the ability to hire mercenaries as a crafter would make the game incredibly immersive. Mmm.. i can see it already, a foreman shouting out orders and then going to meet with his guard captain for a report. Can't wait.
Add an Assasins Guild or something of that sort and i will be in 7th heaven. |

Re: Harvesting
The only downside I can see to this approach is the farmer problem. If resources are in certain spots within mob-infested areas then you can bet the farmers will likely camp them 24/7. The more rare/difficult to obtain an item in the world is, the more valuable it is, and consequently the more likely that farmers will camp it.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the concepts behind this game and I think it's going to make for an exciting RP experience. I just pray that measures are implemented to prevent the more commercially inclined users (I'm not giving them the honor of calling them 'players') from defeating the purpose. Re: Harvesting
Yeah Im looking forward to seeing what Sigil has planned to combat farming since they have taken such a hard stance against it.

Re: Harvesting
There are no info on the complementary system of crafting for the moment ( if there are i will be happy to get the link ). I mean by that how the crafting things will be puzzled with the class like it was in EQ2.
I have understand now the feeling of harvesting ( so i will have two char to be ok - a foreman and a glaner based ) may be if we can switch spheres it will be easier . But we can switch Spheres in harvesting ?

Re: Harvesting
No I seem to recall them saying once you reach a certain level you wont be able to change your classes anymore. I think it was L10 or so.
