Re: Harvesting

So if I am a foreman can I still harvest? I expect that all the resources will be "graded" with appropriate hazards. This should mean that you can gather easy resources solo. Why am I bothered?. Because one of my core activities is exploration and I want to be able to pick the odd herb or mine a mineral node that I stumble accross on my trips.

Re: Harvesting

Most certainly. You can still harvest but you cant be a foreman and a gleaner with the same character from what I understand. You'll also be more effective harvesting in a group since the foreman makes the other harvesting classes better at what they do and increases the quality of the harvested material. The gleaner on the other hand finds valuable secondary harvest items while the reaper increases the yield of the harvest, etc.

Re: Harvesting

It seems the farming may be a problem but it my be in a guild type fasion like you said it would be better off to harvest in grps. which would hurt the solo player alittle. But I think harvesting all types will be advantage in trade

Re: Harvesting

I am not sure that the level 10 lock still applies you may have to select during character creation.

As to harvesting everybody can harvest.

Re: Harvesting

I think you select during character creation, but for the first few levels I think you can still switch.

Re: Harvesting

here is what i remember from the OVF.

your Class(es) are picked at the Character Creation.
you WILL BE ABLE TO change your class(es) up until a certain lvl where it will be locked in (i believe it was Brad who said level 10 -*possibly*-).
beyond that you are what you are, and your harvesting class is associated with your Adventuring/Crafting class (whichever is higher, so say your a lvl 3 Warrior and a lv 20 Outfitter, your a lvl 20 Gleaner)

and yes, thats right its spelled glEaner not glaner. they put spell check on here for a reason folks.

Re: Harvesting

Im still slightly confused on how the Harvester is supposed to work.

Lets say at any given lvl I begin to harvest some wood. Do I gain wood harvesting points to raise my harvester lvl? Or is it that anyone can harvest anything...however there are certain quest's, training ect... in order to obtain a certain class of harvester? Or....I actually pick to be a, lets say, Foreman, Stonecrafter, Rogue at the beggining of the game until lvl 10 in which im locked?

Re: Harvesting

Harvesting is a skill based sphere from what I recall being explained and its level equals the highest of your adventuring/crafting levels. What they use that level comaprison for I have no idea. The skill points increase your success rate harvesting in various fashions just like EQ skills did I would imagine. Pretty sure that they have some restrictions on what harvester class you can be when you roll your character.

Re: Harvesting

Hello everyone:

What I have pLan is to switch after every couple levels and try all the class ranks first hand? I will then know farely well by level 10 what I like. I know I won't beable to keep up with the Jones on my block, but I am going to try to specialize in what I enjoy most.
