My first question is I see that a lot of the taskmaster things say there is a possibility of a rare just how rare are they and does the item have to be grade A?second I dont see any real useful recipes yet It show a Kojan (sp) jewelry recipe but cant find most of the ingredients it lists different types of gems and I just dont see any recipes to make that kind and detailed sites that you can point me to would be a great help the taskmaster things are ok for exp and ok coin but would like to start making some items I could use or sell. ![]() |

Re: Rares and couple other newbie crafting questions
Shinto I think was blessed by three rare weapons (*grumble**grumble**grumble*).
I believe that only certain recipes can make rare items. You have to get the item to 100%. Not sure what other requirements are needed. Maybe Shinto can tell us his secret. ![]() |

Re: Rares and couple other newbie crafting questions
The rare items might be tools, catalysts, or gear. Some of them are really useful, and some aren't.
It's no secret, really. There is a recipe that upgrades any tin weapon. It takes a Diamond Cut Garnet Jewel and a Nickel Ore, and adds to whatever stats the item has. Anything made with the recipe becomes a rare. You don't have to get 100%, though I do think you have to get grade A. |

Re: Rares and couple other newbie crafting questions
The different kinds of gems you saw are not ALL needed for the recipe. You only need one out of the list...it's your choice which to use depending on the effect you're going for, i.e. a wisdom buff vs. a strength buff etc.
They are made using dusts which can be purchased at an exotic goods vendor, or you can use just the basic refined quartz sample. You should have a recipe to refine a quartz sample already though it won't indicate that you can make the varieties listed in the other recipe. Figuring out which dust makes which kind of item is a trial and error thing...not sure if anyone has yet made a spread sheet or chart of all the possibilities. I believe at level 5 you should have received a quest from the crafting guide showing you how to use enhancements. It gives you one dust which you use by putting it in your utility bag and adding it to the table as you would a utility. Then at the cleaning(utility) phase of the process it will give you the option to use the dust. It appears as an extra button under the normal actions. As far as when do you learn anything useful, from what I understand artificers suffer a bit of a draught until lvl 11 when you can do the specialization quest. Until then you just have to grind out work orders. |

Re: Rares and couple other newbie crafting questions
Well you can make jewlery before level 11; considering I havn't gotten any via quest, that's somewhat useful.

As I remember it doesn't so much teach you how to do it as just give you a dust. Then you can use the dust in one of your own recipes. I don't think it's anything crucial. |

Re: Rares and couple other newbie crafting questions
Try going back to your "Crafting Advisor;" every few levels he or she should have another tutorial quest to give you.
