Re: Blacksmithing help

You use dusts that you obtain either as rewards for doing work orders, through deconstruction, or by visiting your local "Exotic Crafting Goods" vendor or whatever they're called these days. The dusts enhance a given attribute (there's a table here) and so something enhanced with +strength dust becomes, for instance, a Sentry's Copper Ingot - and mace made with it becomes a Sentry's Mace.

Not all raws or items will accept all dusts.

Note also that when these appear as a primary component they're an *optional* component. The list will (always?) include a bog-standard version of the item you can also use in the recipe - in the case of your example, a normal, unenhanced copper sheet.

Re: Blacksmithing help

When you hover your mouse of the dust, it'll tell you what you can enhance with it.

Some dusts will do ore, timber, hides, bales. Others will do armor, weapons, etc.

You add the dusts when you're setting up your table.

The ONLY issue I have, is that the dust icon that pops up during crafting is so dang unobvious that if you're not watching, you'll miss it.

Sorkvir's right - you need to keep a sharp eye out for the "dust adding" stage the first few times. It'll appear *under* the normal rows of action icons - and if you miss it, that's that. :-/

LOL. I never had the problem with it appearing under bars thankfully. I have heard other people report that though.

Imagine your normal rows of actions Stiffty, the dusts appear one row under them.

The only way it appears under the icons is if you select the next step before you remember that the dust "step" is active.

Unhappy Re: Blacksmithing help

This thread was very helpful to me, thank you for that.

I have run into an issue now, however...

I got a recipe right after finishing my intro quest that uses these special sheet metals.

It's a helm, it takes 4 of the dust-made sheet metals, a regular sheet metal, a metal ribbing or something, and fuel. I have all of the items required and the recipe. I don't have enough table slots. I have 5, apparently I need 7.

/pull hair out

So... why do I get a recipe at like level 2 that I can't make? I am level 5 blacksmith now, should be more that able to make said helm. How do I open up more table slots? Do I have to be like level 10 to have enough slots to make a level 1 or 2 recipe?

Re: Blacksmithing help

Hmm... okay, I think I get it...

It's this recipe, but the wood elf version:
http://www.vanguardcrafters.com/wiki...ating_recip e

I guess I have to choose which of the special sheet metals to use to determine which stats the helm gets. This makes sense.. though the recipe doesn't say >or< like the VGCwiki page does.

Gonna go try this...

Re: Blacksmithing help

Yup, it is exactly that - you only need choose one of them.

I have also since read (looking earlier on the thread) in the wiki that you can also issue a hand macro to add a dust if you are STILL on the stage where you are asked to add the dust but the add-dust button is gone.

Read the Wiki, it has alot of good info, even knowledgeable crafters can glean stuff from it.
