Orbs of Pure and Distilled Magic

Has anyone else noticed that recently (1/7/07) that the drop rate for these has significantly increased? This evening I ground about 12-15 WO and recieved roughly 5-6 of each. Just for information these were all on 5 part moderate WO with 5 C's

My question is, do these solely come from blacksmithing WO's? I rely heavily on these for my artificing recipes and I have a lot of trouble getting them, mainly because most of the people don't even know where they come from.

I'm an artificer/carp and have received about 4 distilled and one pure. The distilled I had for a while, and got my first pure yesterday afternoon. Maybe they have upped the frequency a tad bit...

I actually get them more often for decons than for WOs. About every third decon gives me one, but I hardly ever see them for WOs.

What are the pure ones for anyways?

I am lvl 12 and i can use orbs of pure magic to make a barbed bow, I would also need a shortbow and crossbow (non mundane) im working hard to try to get some so I can make this bow
