XP from crafting actual items
This has probably been asked before and sorry if it has, but I couldn't find an answer to it.
Why don't crafters get at least a little xp from making actual real items? There will probably be a very reasonable answer for it. I would just like to know what it is. Is it to stop players from producing a load of items and flooding the market with them? |

Re: XP from crafting actual items
They do, the first time. And yes, the basic idea is to stop the market from being flooded by grind-items that nobody really wants. SWG was a case in point for that, but most games with grind-real-items systems see it too.
Aside from that, it opens up the work order mechanism for later stuff like needing to do certain types & quantities for new outposts or possibly even new player towns in order to help them get set up, and things like that. I'm speculating here, but drawing somewhat from things the devs have said in the past.

Re: XP from crafting actual items
I thought that was the case.
So your saying also that you think a number of work orders may need to be completed in the future, before a new town can be completed or a new outpost opened up. I quite like the sound of that. |

Re: XP from crafting actual items
I don't know, but they can play the faction game with work orders - they already do, since you have to do them in order to get enough artisan faction with a place to get their trainers to offer you recipes.
Basically work orders are a system where we put in stuff (utilities, even resources if we want) and get nothing back out - this is actually a good thing in terms of curbing mudflation trends, but as a system I think it has a lot of potential uses we're not seeing yet.

Re: XP from crafting actual items
well they also do in another way.
I harvested mangled leather which I will refine. Refining the leather doesn't give an xp boost but it gives a quality boost to my workorders so it makes sense to use them as it gives xp that way. BTW my friend is a blacksmith and is looked for mangled bundles as well so perhaps there is a auction house need for them. |

Re: XP from crafting actual items
I think they hit it on the head not giving xp for real game items.
Work orders have the potential to take items out of the game with a little reward for time involved. But you definitely don't have to put items in to work orders and get higher quality...at least not yet. Making quality more of a factor could change the crafter way of thinking which is that all you need for good reward/xp is C grade. Overall the crafting system is pretty good right now, just a little tweaking on the complication issue and they should be golden. |

Re: XP from crafting actual items
I just think perhaps WO's should require real game items to complete. I don't really like crafting right now as it feels like I'm just clicking button after button and getting nothing "real" done. So it lends itself to feeling like grinding to the extreme. Especially because it takes me longer to do a Crafting level than an Adventuring level...

Re: XP from crafting actual items
depends on what you do. Single items were earning me 18cp and 5% last night and I'm a 6 outfitter so only need to do 20 single items to level.
That's not that much. Between BC and Veksels exchange there seem to be enough single items for me to level. |

I personally find the WO's addictive for the challenge factor. Grinding out a B item on a Moderate WO feels like an accomplishment. |
