Jewel Shapes - Marquisse, Diamond, etc
Hello, I just recently turned 12 artificer/mineralogist (sp?). So far I have only completed work orders. I decided it was time to make an actual item. I refined a brittle basalt something-or-other and a quartz crystal. The quartz crystal was marquisse shaped. The only jewlery finishing recipe I have calls for either diamond or baguette shaped gems. I created several more gems all of them came out marquisse.
How do I get different shaped gems?!?! Specifically diamond or baguette shaped gems? |

I'm not sure what you've gain in the four levels between us, but as a level 8 Artificer, I've made several Quartz crystals. The recipe for those brings up six different shape options. Is this what you're talking about?

Haha! You're right that's it. When I moused over those 6 options I just read the descriptions. I am a sorcerer so everytime I made a jewel I chose the one that says "arcane" which happens to be the marquise cut.
The jewelry recipes I have only call for baguette and diamond. If we can't make jewelry out of the other gem cuts what are they for? |

Other things, maybe other recipes or for other crafters. It has been said that people will have the option to use our crafted gems to augment their blacksmithing / etc. These cuts could also just be in for all gems and only used on certain ones for specific recipes. In other words, its easier to give you all the options the whole way up than to just add them in as needed (my guess).

Basically, Marquise Quartz give my jewelry a + to arcane absorbtion and my Oval Quartz cut give a + to physical abosrbtion. If you get one made I'd love to know what the diamond and baguette cuts do! I've been wondering if where you train makes a difference.. sounds like that might be the case. ![]() |

Diamond and Baguette are mental and spirit absorption. WOOHOO!! we have an answer. It must be the style differences. The jewelry I make says qalian style, which makes sense for it to be mental / spirit (all the psi's and such running around).

OMG so thats how we get these shaped gems for the blacksmithy recipes!
I couldnt find them anywhere. Great to know. I have this one specific recipe that upgrades a tin Weapon. Not sure what that means exactly but it calls for a shaped Quartz. I've gotten quartz from mining oe but nothing ever is shaped. Thanks for info. |

Oh wow! That's one I didn't know. Yep, just contact your local Mineralogist. I've been working on compiling a list of what is used for what. I can see I'm going to have to start asking around to the other professions as well as the other areas. LOL.. this is going to be a big job.. which personally, I love!
I'm so glad they made crafting diverse and complex. ![]() |

Now, doesnt Faction determine whether you are able to learn recipes in certain regions? I mean, im Kurashasa, If I took the time to go to Thestra, Im assuming Id have to up my faction with crafting or something in order to access those ring recipes. Anyone know anything solid about this? |
