Re: Jewel Shapes - Marquisse, Diamond, etc
Yeah, I have heard that is an issue. I have a friend that tried to get trained in Tanvu and the trainer would speak to him. He wasn't KOS for that city since he'd earned enough faction to get in. But I don't know if he'd ever have been able to get the trainer to talk to him. Certainly that's something that would be great to know!

Re: Jewel Shapes - Marquisse, Diamond, etc
From what I have heard, you have to do a "quest" per se to learn "Qalian style" or "Thestran Style" / etc. I havent travelled outside Qalia myself to verify. My uneducated guess is that you need to not just get the city faction to get in, but the crafter faction high enough in order to learn the recipes. Such as there is Khal faction, Khal artisans, Qalian Artisans, etc etc.

Re: Jewel Shapes - Marquisse, Diamond, etc
Wow! So each "style" of crafting uses two jewel shapes. Three continents - six jewel shapes. It also appears that some other crafting recipes require jewels (tailoring and blacksmithing have been mentioned). Good work team! Is anyone taking notes?!
This also brings up an interesting point. I am a gnome sorcerer but I can't make the arcane jewelery. Overcoming the racial barriers to learning another style of jewelry sound too extreme (think about having to build up 300 crafting faction to get high end recipes one work order at a time - ugh!). So I guess that means I'll have to buy my arcane jewelry from crafters on other continents? So that means we'll have actual trade caravans?! Travelling from one continent to the other in a boat to sell your own crafts and stock up on foreign goodies?! Sweet! It's like a virtual East India Trading Company. |

Normal faction will let you enter the city, but the artisan faction will allow you to learn recipes. |
