Mining...or lack thereof
As i have a ranger i have choosen to make myself an Artificer, thus training in lumbrejacking (only cause i like the song hehe) and mining. Lumberjacking is a doddle, kill treants and harvest until you go blue in the face (only hit l7 today so nothing bigger than the basic hehe) but as for mining. Where the heck do i find ore i can extract. So far everything i have tried (and yes i equiped the pick) has said you can not do that yet or you don't have the skill....I am a Human ranger in and around Tursh who needs ore to mine...HELP!!

Re: Mining...or lack thereof
I have never been a miner but in beta did lumberjack and skinning and noticed I saw more copper/stone mines in out of the way hills. So if you see a big rock or something, go behind it and take a look. By tursh there is an road by the ocean that leads to a yet unlocked area, this place I saw lots of mine nodes in beta. Now I'm a DE so I haven't done any more exploring in that area yet.
A class with a run buff of some sort would make a great harvester but I'm plenty happy with my sorc anyways. |

Re: Mining...or lack thereof
Just in case you aren't clear, basalt and slate are the novice and amateur levels of quarrying (stone). Copper is novice mining, and once you hit 100 skill and buy a book, you can upgrade to tin.
I haven't been to your area, but I have definitely noticed "intelligent" placement of nodes as well. Stone and metal both seem to appear more often in mountain passes, and in the midst of those clusters of stone we so frequently find. As a recently un-frustrated reaper, allow me to encourage you to just keep exploring. You will slowly find the places where copper abounds in your area. Once you do, keep looking for the next, and pause at your "secret spot" every time you pass by. I've found four sweet spots for reaping around Martok so far, including one that seems to be a constant respawn. Oh, and you might want to keep an eye out for tin even before you can harvest it. I've noticed that jute and cotton spawns seem to be interchangeable, at least to a point. If you see tin somewhere, it's likely that copper can be found nearby at some point in time. And that's the best I can offer - good luck! |

(oh and I remember tripping over a copper node very near the front of the Tursh Academy Dorms).
