Crafted weapons brutally nerfed???
Have they just made weaponsmithing that much more unappealing in the latest patch?
Seems most crafted weapons have had a huge reduction in stats making them even harder to sell. A grade A copper dagger had abo 5.5dps yesterday and today it's 2.27dps. A grade A tin dagger was 9+ dps yesterday and now is 6.82 it seems (possibly higher when I reach the item level but can't tell since there's no longer a number in parenthesis) What gives? Anyone know what's going on? |

Re: Crafted weapons brutally nerfed???
Whoa - I hadn't even noticed that. Going to check my gear & the stuff I made for hubs when I get back in.
Any mention of it in patch notes? I've not read the notes from this morning's patch yet... if it's not mentioned, we can still hold out a minor hope that it was unintentional. I thought the damage was not excessive... but I'm not a dev.

Basically, grade A crafted copper stuff is now pretty worthless compared to average easily obtained loot. Why don't they just remove copper nodes from the game. I wonder whether all crafted levels have seen the same reduction. Anyone able to craft tin stuff confirm if it applies to tier 2 and above? |

Re: Crafted weapons brutally nerfed???
Yep. They just pretty much killed the Blacksmith professions.
For the last week I have been able to make a few silver per day crafting and selling items. In fact, I have been able to craft my way to having a fully decked out level 6 character. I am at -1 EE Plus about 20 silver in my purse from the recent work order grind towards level 11 Blacksmith Has a single one of my items which have been selling for the last week every day sold today? NO! Looted and dropped gear is so abundant and very high in stats compared to crafted gear now. My whole first week, and early head start benefits, have been essentially made obsolete. So much for enjoying some of the more fun parts of the game. May as well go grind adventure levels and kill some named bosses like everybody else ![]() edit: The throwing hammers that I made and equipped yesterday did something like 63 damage. Now they do 0-0 damage. Yes, my throwing hammers have been nerfed to doing Zero to Zero damage. lol Last edited by Bootstrap : 02-02-2007 at 02:00 AM. |

Re: Crafted weapons brutally nerfed???
After doing a bit of research on the subject, I have a bit more information about this. It appears that all tier 1 weapons (possibly others also, but I could not confirm this) have been reduced in power by one grade. So a grade A weapon now has the stats that a grade B used to. There may be some variation, but this seems to be the trend.
That said, I do not think this has "killed" the blacksmith profession. The items that I can make now are actually more appropriate for my level than those I could before the patch. That does not make me happy about the situation, but I can at least accept it. It was known before the patch that weaponsmiths, unlike armorsmiths, had a distinct advantage over dropped weapons. Now adventurers and crafters can obtain comparable items in the first weapon tier. By the way, I also have made more cash from blacksmithing than I have from adventuring. I think this was somewhat of a balance issue. Now, with the weapons adjusted and the Attuning Dusts available, smiths simply have to make enhanced weapons to profit. One last thing: The throwing hammers are actually bugged. They are not the only items to have this problem, and this bug was known before the nerf. Last edited by Shinto : 02-02-2007 at 03:08 AM. |

Re: Crafted weapons brutally nerfed???
Comparable to dropped loot (of the better variety) I can totally handle. Less good than dropped loot and suddenly there's little point in crafting.
Thanks for the update, Shinto. Am having health issues and never did log back in, in the end.
