Ack! Crafting help please!
I've read through tutorials, completed quests, tried work orders, visited my trainer, made sure my toolbelt was equiped and the right items were in it etc.
Nothing works. I've managed to complete 1 work order. The rest give me an error for missing tool. Sometimes it's process, sometimes it's fashion, sometimes it's roughhew, whatever those things mean. Work orders are supposed to provide you with the necessary items correct? I saw nothing in any of them to indicate a minimum skill or level needed... None of the recipes I have are makeable. One Basalt Support requires Basalt Blocks which I can't make til lvl 4. The other is some quartz jewelry which requires a list a mile long of stuff that I of course can't make. Other times if I open my abilities book it won't show me recipes. I think it's bugged, but I just want to make sure if anyone has any ideas...it's entirely possible I'm just doing it wrong. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Re: Ack! Crafting help please!
Tools:
I have 3 tool belts, with all but 1 slot filled. My main has the saw, drill, and whatever else the 3rd one is that the trainer gives you. My second has the "repair tool" "rigging tool" and chisel The third has a ruler and a measuring stick. These SHOULD only be used for complications (all but the first 3) Work orders require nothing but the store bought components (like solvent, cleaner, water) When a work order asks for a block, you need to check both of these, because either could be the issue, it's not exactly clear from your problem what the solution would be 1) Make sure, when you get the box that you're able to choose solvents in, that you also dont have a option for the block at the top. If you do, click on it and make sure you uncheck anything in there. 2) When the main crafting page comes up, the very first step has 2 options, one uses no component, the other lets you choose to use a block. Just make sure you read the text and choose the one that uses nothing. That should give you a place to start, if you try those and still have issues, please take a deep breath, keep track of exactly what you do and where the problem comes up and come back here. Let us know the new info and we'll get you better help =) Hope this does it for you! |

Re: Ack! Crafting help please!
if you have your refining station or your finishing station active (you have clicked on it) then you can see your recipies- but only those recipies that depend on that station. both the refining and finishing stations have separate recipie lists (its not obvious visually, but just by analysis of what happens when you look for em lol)
step one - get 3 toolbelts from the crafting supplier - they are free. step two - get all the tools that are available to you (the ones that are not available will be in red and will imply you cant use em) step three - put all tools in the toolbelts....you have to use some thinking on what tool goes in what bag (for example a smith will probly use a hammer a lot so you put the hammer in bag one) step four - make sure the green check mark is on toolbelt one - to do this right click or dbl click on toolbelt one to open it, then close it - the green checkmark should be there now. step five - do the tutorial and make your advanced tool - every craft has one of these. after the tutorial make sure you replace the tool into your bag. step six - go either to the finishing or refining taskmaster for your craft - and scroll down the list of the workorders till u get to the bottom - the easy ones are here. select a workorder (you can get three at a time but u can only select one at a time, so repeat to get all three) each work order has a quantity that it is requesting, you have to do all to get the maximum reward, but u dont have to - there is a minimum reward too. hope it helps, good luck. Re: Ack! Crafting help please!
I've actually had that same error message about a missing tool, and I clearly have the tool, and even crafted just fine the other day, and also took on a work order which I had thought I had completed before, but now just comes up with an error. Have all the tools, moved them around in different bags, clicked here, clicked there - not a thing.
Figured something might have been bugged so I'll try again tonight. |

Re: Ack! Crafting help please!
Found the problem, not sure if it's a bug. I had the "improved" saw from the assembly quest in my toolbelt. I decided to just buy a normal saw since it was free (not really thinking it would work), and voila! I've been able to craft as normal since then. So apparently the improved saw doesn't work...

Re: Ack! Crafting help please!
I also mentioned this in another thread, but may bare repeating... if you have 3 toolbelts, you may have to change belts when a complication comes up and it tells you that you don't have the right tool... there is a button to the lower left part of the crafting screen that will will pop up icons representing the two unused bags... the left one is, of course, the "left" unused bag, and the right one is the "right" unused bag. You may have to open up your inventory screen to remind yourself which bag holds what... switching bags use up action points, btw.
