Anyone else finding Crafting confusing?
I know there is an explanation/tutorial of sorts in the game, but I am still having troubles. I started the intro crafting (outfitter) in the wood elf main city (forget how to spell the name). A Raki had me run to the room downstairs to get free gear and also a bag with a few items at another vendor, free started kit I guess. I go to the finioshing table and it keeps saying i am missing components. I have the belt/bag eqipped, the recipe was the one they start you with.
Err...what do I do? What am I missing? |

That I didn't have a required item. There was a menu box that appeared, from what I gathered you just click the icons from left to right, but it did nothing..presumably because I am missing something.
I think it is likely I just dont understand crafting even after reading the basics. I assumed that the crafting introduction would supply you with all you need |

Re: Anyone else finding Crafting confusing?
If you read the dialog, it tells you to put the tools he gives you into the toolbelt and equip the toolbelt on your crafting equipment page (press C and click on the anvil Icon).
If you look at the work order it will tell you what items/tools are required to do it. Make sure you have placed these items into your utility pouch and toolbelt. |

Re: Anyone else finding Crafting confusing?
Yup I have the cleaner. When I click on the table it appears. I have the outfitter clothes on, the tollbelt has three items in it. The bag had several stacks of 25 cleaners. I click on the finishing table, the box with the icons appears, and the table icon shows a stack of 25 cleaner. I click each item in the menu in order from left to right. Those icons appear by themselves below the menu as I click them, but no action points are used and nothing happens.

Re: Anyone else finding Crafting confusing?
After about level 4 I got the hang of it. I did nearly 50 Finishing work orders today and went from lvl 5 to lvl 9 Blacksmith in just a few hours! (I also ignore all complications because I rarely loose item quality when I leave them alone, so they aren't worth wasting Action Pts.)

Each icon or pair of icons on the table are a stage (i.e. stage 1, 2, 3, and 4). When you click on a stage icon, option icons appear below. At first, you'll only have one option icon but as you get better, more will appear. Click on the option icon. You'll notice a blue progress bar each time you click the option icon. When it completes, the icon on the table will go dark. Then you move to the next icon. It too will have options appear below it. You continue to do this until you complete all four stages (and have a finished product). |

Also, you might see if the toolbelt containing your tools has a green check mark on it in your crafting inventory. If not, you might not be able to take the action due to the lack of available tools. If that doesn't help, read the description for the action that you are attempting to use, and list it and the items available here so that we can try to figure out the problem. In some situations, this is appropriate. When I am doing copper ingots, I sometimes end up with 400 extra AP, so I just ignore any penalties against AP. However, when I am trying to make pristine harvesting tools and run into a Quality penalty, I get rid of it as soon as possible unless I know that I have five steps before adding anything to the Quality meter. You will also find as you go on that some penalties affect both Progress and AP, and those are a nuisance. |
