Ships and houses

While I'm torn between blacksmithing and ships/houses, I think I'll do the housing/ship building part until Sigil fixes the horrid animations on blacksmithing.

So I'd like to know if it's true that Artificiers make boats and houses, and if so what harvesting would complement this other than logging?

Re: Ships and houses

Mineralogists make houses, primarily from quarried stone and minerals.

Carpenters make ships, primarily from logged logs.

Both depend on the other 5 trades for some of the components.

Re: Ships and houses

here is an easier way to look at things

Quarrier ----> mineroligists

Lumber jack ----> Carpenter

which one u want to specialise in is up to you but im going carpenter as i want to be able to build boats and other wooden things.

hope this is slightly helpful

Re: Ships and houses

I'd prefer to build houses but am sort of reluctant because of the complexity of crafting in this game. Do you have any advice for me?

Mining and Lumberjacking as my harvesting, and where do you learn carpentry as a Craft on Thestria?

Re: Ships and houses

Mining = blacksmithing, Mining = metal
Quarrying = Minerologist, Quarrying = stone / gems
Artisans have no use for mining (well, the metal from it), except to sell. Suggested to choose which you want primary (carpentry / minerology) to have your primary gathering skill (logging -> carpentry, quarrying -> minerology) and the other one just to have on hand to do artisan generic stuff with.

And you dont choose your specialty for a while, its at lvl 10/11 to start the quest to choose which is your focus.

Artificing has two sub crafts to it named carpentry and minerology, choose artificing in your starting cities crafting guide and you should get the quests to learn all of the intricacies of crafting.

Re: Ships and houses

I understand the ShipBuild/HouseBuild angles to Minerologist/Carpenter... but what about the other things mentioned regarding 'gems' and 'focuses' in the description?

I recall gems came from my mining an dnot quarrying in beta - I may be wrong.

Who gets to build the jewelry (if there is that) and focus items mentioned? Is it one or the other or is it 'generic' Artisan tree avail for both types?

Also - what materials ARE needed in the 'general' items avail to both post 10? I assume wood AND stone?
