Crafting Trades

Just thought I'd post the basic information on the professions. This comes directly from Silius thread on the Vanguard forums http://www.vanguardsoh.com/forums/sh...threadid=13892.

Herbalist: Potions and infusion
Blacksmith: Metal weapons, armor, vehicular and structural components
Woodcrafter: Wooden Structures, vehicles, furniture and weapon/armor components
Stonecrafter: Jewelry, structural, furniture, focus items
Outfitter: cloth and leather armor and armor components and bags

I am so excited to see structures, vehicles and furniture already being worked on in a game at this stage of development.

Re: Crafting Trades

Thanks for the post. I've been working on consolidating Silius's comments in that thread into a couple of the crafting sections of this site right now. Im excited about having the opportunity to be an armorer again like I was in SWG.

Re: Crafting Trades

I love crafting, unfortunately I love everything else about these types of games too. I mastered very little in the 9 months I played SWG (except Artisan) but I had a blast with everything I tried. The whole sphere idea really excites me because this way I'm not forced to decide what to give up to master crafting, diplomacy, or adventuring.

The crafting system also looks to have something I really enjoyed in Horizons - group crafting - not that Horizons has it per se (it's more like group projects) but the sense of accomplishment from building a group project is enormous (especially cause these types of projects results in usually something big which makes an impact on the landscape).

Re: Crafting Trades

The armor does look pretty sweet in this game. I may give armor/weaponsmithing a try. Thinking of going the melee route with this game.

Re: Crafting Trades

The crafting trades are actually an area where we have a lot of information (thanx Silius). Is anyone else having problems deciding what they want to be?

Woodworking sounds very interesting with wagons and ships. But I usually end up working picks and shovels which will probably mean Blacksmith. In SWG I was a Master Artisan and made a living stocking the bazaar with tools and kits. In Horizons I'm a Tinkerer. So I'm torn and actually wondering how harvesting will affect the choice - I can imagine ore being harder to come by than wood, herbalist, and cloth resources.

Re: Crafting Trades

I have been an alchemist (herbalist) in EQ and EQ2. Actually in EQ2 I have toons for each artisan profession, but main is an alchemist. One of my concerns is that for most players, the potions and poisons are not seen as necessary. They don't know what the potions do or how they can enhance their gameplay, so I end up spending lots of time educating potential buyers one at a time. Would love to see an in-game "newspaper" where advertisements for different products could be purchased!

The newspaper would probably need to be a regional type of thing since the devs have said they dont want global markets such as the AH of WoW.

I think we have a better chance of seeing merchants standing next to tables/wagons selling items, and then there is the old fashion player yelling across the zone advertising their wares. The newspaper idea is kinda neat, but items can change hands fast... so it may not always be up to date (unless its a magic paper that updates everytime something sells...but that sounds kinda silly).
