Harvesting sticking point

First off, I am fairly new to Vanguard. I've made a Half-elf Druid with skinning as my primary and reaping as secondary. My dilemma is that at skill level 200, I got my new tools and read my amateur books and am able to progress my skills at reaping, but skinning is stuck at 200. I tried going back and re-reading the amateur book for skinning, but get a message that I have not met a character requirement. My reaping is currently at 208 and harvesting is at 291. My clothing is all at 'amateur' level except my boots which are still 'novice'. I am able to use my 'apprentice' tools, but again, no skill ups for skinning. Any ideas??

I suspect you should be reading the initiate book -- I may have the name wrong, but basically there's a book per tier of harvesting, so you need to make sure you bought the one that requires 185+ skinning skill to read.

If that isn't it, the next thing I would try is to skin some more -- skills can take a long time to change especially past 200. From 200 to 220 you can still get points off creatures that are level 11-20, but levels 21-30 will work too (and will be the only ones that give you points after 220).

After that... it's possible for skills to get stuck, though it's not as frequent as most folks seem to think. At 350 mining, I've had dry spells of over a dozen nodes where I didn't get a single skillup. Anyway if nothing else seems to work, you might try petitioning. You may end up having to drop and retake the skill (which is a matter of picking a different primary, then repicking skinning) - but of course you'd start back at skill 1, so it's a last resort I'd say.

Also you need to progress to higher and higher level animals as your skinning skill goes up.

Game Update #2 fixed the issue...my harvesting skills are progressing once again...
