launchpad difficulty

Starting yesterday, the SOE launchpad started randomly popping up, scanning files, and disappearing. This got to the point that it was interrupting my vanguard gameplay. It starts up on its own when I reboot the computer and intermittently while I am using the computer. I uninstalled Vanguard, Everquest, and Everquest2 and it continued to pop up on its own. I then deleted the station folders and still it continued to come up and scan files. I finally deleted all files modified in the last 2 days that i thought could POSSIBLY be the cause. It has finally stopped but I am now terrified to reinstall. Has this happened ever to anyone else? Anyone know how to keep this from happening again?

I would tighten up my computer security if I were you. If you aren't running a virus checker, get one. You should also make sure that your security levels on your browser are fairly high so that you aren't getting trash sneaking in as you browse the web and be sure you have some firewall active (even if it is only the windows one).

Also check on your ISP web site, they may have some free downloads of various programs like ad-aware and spybot that can help protect you from various attacks. They may also have articles on other counter-measures you can take.
