Please Read First - Reporting a Bug

I've been spending some time on test server talking with some of the people there and finding quest bugs to work on, and someone suggested I post a bit about reporting bugs on the forums (and to let people know that even though we don't respond much here, these forums do get read).

Generally, you want to give the following inormation: who are you, where are you, and what the bug is.

Who are you would include such things as:
Character Level
Character Class
Quests you've finshed or not finished that might be important to the bug
Factions you have that might be important to the bug
Gear you're wearing that might be important tothe sit bug

Where you are is pretty simple, do /loc and write down the chunk number and the coords.

What the bug is, is the meat of the problem. If a bug is going to take a lot of explaining it often helps us to have a short 1-2 sentence summary of the bug before going into a long description.

If an issue is simple, that might be it, for example:

"The signpost in Misthaven Crossing shows incorrect direction for New Targonor. Following the direction indicated by the sign post leads the player to The Deebs."

Doesn't really require more than just where you issue is, and then the short summary.

With more complex issues (say, a questline where something happens on the 3rd step of the questline) it's useful to have more detailed steps on how to reproduce the bug, for example:

1. Start the quest "When In Doubt"
2. Complete the quest objectives and turn in the quest
3. Start the quest "Shards of East"
4. Complete the quest objectives and turn in the quest
5. Start the quest "Often Upwards"
6. Complete all of the the quest objectives and return to the questgiver
7. Observe that the quest still shows a blue "in-progress" quest shield rather than a green "finished" quest shield, even though all of the objectives have been completed.

thank you very much for posting this info. it will help me and others to knowthat bugs do get worked on. i know some of us get intense but have to remeber what we think the prioties are not what is the most important. look forward to testing for you and thanks again

I'll update the FAQ - I think I have steps with a LOT more (and thereby extraneous) information. These are much more concise

Keep in mind that these are just general guidelines of a "this sort of information is useful" type, and in no way a form you need to fill out or anything.
