Post Original Music Suite - Snowflight

Most people who are familiar with my work here at Vanguard Spheres know that I occasionally write music pieces inspired by the creative efforts going into making Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. I don't always post here about my other musical creations, but now is going to be one of those times since I've created something particularly pleasing and wanted to share it with the greater public.

The piece is called Snowflight and originated from a painting. About a month ago, I had rediscovered the website of one of my favourite artists: Tracy J. Butler. When browsing through her gallery, I came across a painting called Wrong Way that really struck my creative nerve. Though the description for the painting named it an illustration for an existing story, a wholly different one began seeping into my head from looking at the painting. So I started writing out sketches for what the piece might encompass. After a while, it became apparent that I had too many ideas for just one piece of music. Eventually, after more sketches and brainstorming I came up with a seven-movement form that would take the listener aurally through the whole story I had envisioned.

A word of caution though, it's a bit epic in length, but certainly worth it if you're able to listen to the whole thing continuously. Please, enjoy, and feel free to post your thoughts if you're so inclined

Amazing! I particularly liked Morning Life cause I can see my halfling alt exploring town for the first time. *grins*
Is it alright if I keep them on my computer to use as supplemental gaming music? I wouldn't redistribute them at all. I have a smallish collection of fantasy/medieval/renaissance music to use once I get tired of the regular in-game music so I'd just be adding to that. (I RP, so I can't listen to most "modern" music while I play, throws off my mindset and the atmosphere)

That's some great work there. I really liked The Forest part. I have been listening to it at my desk at work. I do have one question for you though. Who plays the music? I know you write it, but who plays the instruments?

I wouldn't mind at all That's exactly something that the music could be used for.

Good question I actually program/play all the instruments myself. What you're hearing are sampled instruments played back digitally on my computer and mixed respectively to give the illusion of a real ensemble playing.

It'd be fun to have a full orchestra at your disposal, though, wouldn't it, CK?
