I believe still that they're weapon designs, though perhaps moreso in the epic endgame variety due to their highly stylized appearance.
However, with the mention of class icons, Brad just released some screenshots last night that do include some of those in it! Check out the UI in this screen: http://www.bradmcquaid.com/foh4.jpg Seems that the character portrait spot has now been replaced with amazingly-rendered class icons. Seems to be Druid (leaf book), Bard (cello scroll!), and... I'm going to have to go with Disciple on the last one. Ozurian can be seen healing in the combat text going on in the screenshots, and the icon looks really eastern in concept what with the whole eye-in-palm deal. I couldn't picture a Cleric, Shaman or Bloodmage with something like that. Brad's icon could be the Warrior image... But there might be a possibility that, similar to WoW's interface, the crossed/swords represents "in-combat." Regardless, I love the overall style the UI has. It seems to be a lot more "hand-crafted" than some of the other UIs we've seen. Lots of dark metal at this point, but also check out the leathery background for the money icons in the inventory window. I'm also glad they kept the "target-locator" thing in the UI and party window. I'm betting that'll help a whole lot, especially when following a MT's assist. The rest of the shots are in this post. The eye in hand icon just might be discipline.
If these are concept arts of high end weapons, I only hope it is not the absolute best because if that is the case, all the classes that use a certain weapon will have it. I like Greymains idea of keeping track of very rare/uber item numbers via a database, so that way it is kept rare. Very nice screen shots and looking forwards to seeing some more. |
