I've been gaming for years. From Zaxxon, on my fathers TRS-80, to Phantasy Star on my Sega Genesis. Then Ultima Online for a year, Everquest for 5 years, EQ2 for 6 months and now World of Warcraft for the past 6 months.

Re: Our Generation
Here, Here!
Getting new toys is fun, but spacing it out and earning them yourself, as you said...that means so much more! Even now, I'm playing with some folks who level a character up for their spouse/kids to "help" them and they can play together. They're twinking them insanely and not letting them see that, as you get a piece here and there, you learn what the extra AC really means, or mana, or...whatever. Effects, maybe. Having someone else play your character so you have an epic...what accomplishment is that? Where is the pride and respect? Zilcho, goober! And yes, it's a sore spot with me. I can't wait to see the world of VSoH! Here's hoping!!! |
