Thank You from Our Hearts

First, it was "The Parking Lot Meeting"...May, 2007. Well, there has been another occurance!

Quote:
The Vanguard development team is relocating its offices to SOE's San Diego campus effective Monday, October 15, 2007. As part of the integration into the SOE family, the developers will benefit from having access to shared resources and the combined experience of SOE's other game development teams. As a result, not every Carlsbad employee has been invited to stay with the development team.

Under the new leadership of Thom Terrazas, an eight-year SOE veteran, SOE will continue its commitment to Vanguard and its players. The remaining Vanguard team members are going to continue to deliver on an exceptional product. They are a creative force in the online games space and we look forward to continuing the vision for Vanguard and to continue to deliver groundbreaking game play. SOE remains committed to seeing Vanguard grow and prosper.
People are questioning, "NOW who?"

Simply put....we dunno.

What we, at Spheres, do know is that we have lost many, many good friends and very talented people.

What we would like to do is use this thread as a salute to those who have moved on to better things, and definately those who are still seeking their place in the sun! They deserve it ever so much more than the silence they have received!

I will start with a list of those I know, but I want each of you to add to this list with the devs who have helped you out ...and even upset you... thru a long and bonding beta, and some who braved the current and chose to post on the sites for the community they had commited to, including those here at VanguardSpheres! For that, we thank them all!

GM Keejay
GM Daegarmo
GM Elaisu
GM Fessius
GM Djembe
GM Tage
GM Verityn
GM Vladdmir
GM Nethe
GM Maklor
GM Zodoro
GM Kardoras
GM Xtar
GM Mazrik
GM Zrakle
GM Zwee
GM Tiara
Elrar
Doomcookie

Thad Clevenger (sorry - don't remember his dev name, but look at the link!)

Ok. It's your turn. Please add to the list so we can properly thank those who made Telon the beautiful and exciting world it is!

You are all missed and very much appreciated for your talent, hard work and selfless souls!

/salute

/sigh....

From VGTact:

Quote:
I'm not going to say anything more than I was not retained for Vanguard. It was, indeed, a fun ride these past two years. I have a lot of respect for my co-workers and SOE in general, so I won't sugar-coat the fact that I am no longer with the project. It's not my place to speak of other devs, though I'm sure you'll find a list soon enough.

I learned a lot, and I love this community more than I can say - we proved once again that devs and community can communicate meaningfully and well. I will miss you all, and wish you and the sphere well.

for the last time:

Steve, aka Aruspex, you are the best! Diplo was one of the great things about Vanguard, and something that set it apart...for all the belly-aching a group of people did! Don't be a stranger!

Thank you!!

Re: Thank You from Our Hearts

That is a shock. Thank you and we'll miss you Aruspex. Good luck and have fun in whereever you end up.

Thank to all the devs and GMS, thankfully I never got to know you. I didn't have many problems, and when I did have to talk to GM they sounded human. So thank you and good luck.

Re: Thank You from Our Hearts

WOW... Aruspex... man that hurts this guy and Doomcookie were great in the forums and really seemed to care/want to make things happen.

I'd like to thank them and I wish them the best in the future. It is so unfortunate Sigil went the way it did.

I recognize some of the names in the list from beta, but it has been a long time and my memory isn't what it used to be (plus I was gone since end of Feb - but still paying my 2 accounts to at least support it until I was able to fit in some time besides caring for my newborn)

Also, who was the guy talking about 'Gloop' at the end of Beta - I never did find out where he got the name, my RL pal "Gloop" had JUST logged out when the first announcement about a deranged gnome went out that day... "Gloop" was a gnome first born in EQ as his second char-turned-primary a month after release. He has continued using that name in several more MMOs. Was wondering if he saw the guy and said 'good silly gnome name' or total hilarious co-inky-dink...

Re: Thank You from Our Hearts

Been looking at the forums of other sites. It seems that Cylus and Hasium have left recently as well which is why this Thom guy is taking over. Considering Thom hasn't been involved with the game I really worry how he is going to run things. I didn't really much care for Dave Gilbertson but at least he was involved with the game from the beginning; having a new guy I never heard of in charge now is kind of troubling.

Also it seems with the exit of Aruspex I worry about the future of the diplomacy sphere. The diplomacy sphere is really the biggest thing that keeps me playing "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes" and is really the one thing about this game that sets it apart from the competition.

So did the whole GM staff get laid off? What does this mean for customer service in the future?

Also when you guys get this all sorted out I would like to see a list of the people who are still running this game. I'm really curious about who is and who isn't still here and where I can but the blame/praise for how the game proceeds in the future.

Re: Thank You from Our Hearts

The GM staff was fired in the parking lot....some represented, tho, did leave of their own will previously (actually...2). They rehired 3 of "our" GMs, filled in with some new ones and are currently also using some from India.

Placing blame isn't what will make the game better. And, as far as Cylus and Hasium....I don't care if it's the bum on the corner that they hire, as long as he can do a job well! I liked Cylus.

If we get a list, fine, but this one needs to be filled in with as many names as we can remember to have a record of the creators that were truly inspired!

ANYone...please help...and thank you!

Re: Thank You from Our Hearts

I can definitely add 3-4 GM names from 2 incidents that were handled VERY satisfactorily last week when I restarted and was still doing a buggy quest.

I'd definitely like to name the first guy I got help from who took the time to tell me of some changes.

Minor rant below ;P
The answer I got on a different question (missing all items from Broker PRE-merge, after I didn't log in for 6 months - but I DID check day b4 merge) was unsatisfactort "maybe this happened" answers vs investigating as I asked if they could do (just one of my 2 accounts worth of toons would be enough to do a sampling to make sure it was legitly VG trashing my items or a bug - blows that I paid 2x6 months and lost all my mailed items anyway - but hey, that's my fault for not logging in just to empty it and remove from brokers, but whatever)
